BRIT GRIT 2: KOKO'S KITCHEN

It was Saturday afternoon and I had just finished with a series of tests at One Health hospital at Mobolaji Bank Anthony way, Ikeja. The hospital canteen was closed so I decided to walk across to BT Supermarket just before the Ikeja Military Cantoment and buy some snacks. Right by the gate were three sisters showcasing their food wares: one with packets of Indomie while the other two had covered pots of cooked food. All I wanted was just a nice warm meal and this road kitchen seemed like a better option to me.

So I ordered a pack of Indomie, with diced kpomo and plantain. It was a delicious meal as I stuffed it down with a cold bottle of water. I was curious so I began quizing the sisters. Blessing spoke up presenting a bold narrative of how her mother hustled both as a beautician and pap seller to support their training and education to the University. She grew up seeing her mum hustling and that entreprenuerial spirit motivated her to start her own business with her two younger sisters.

Today to God's glory, her family has four graduates trained from her mother's meagre earnings from pap sales while two are undergraduates currently. Pure grit was all I could think of as I watched her engage her customers with superb customer service. She is working towards renting a place to set up a proper restaurant because she is gifted.
