HOW DRAMA AND ROLE PLAY CAN HELP IMPROVE YOUR CHILD'S SELF CONFIDENCE.

In Drama, Everyone’s Included
In a play, everyone has an important role, so even if your child is having a challenge relating with other kids in regular everyday situations, here they’ll learn how to work together to achieve a common goal. More than that, your child will be more confident in his or her ability to be a part of a group and have a voice within it.

Drama Teaches Your Child to Trust In Their Own Ability
The word “confidence” is related to the Latin word for trust. Check us out getting all smart! When all is said and done, self-confidence means “trusting in oneself,” particularly trusting in one’s own ability. As your child gets involved with the play and see how well he is connecting with others in the play, he trusts in his abilities even more, and this can have a spill over effect into other areas of school and outside school life.

When your child gets up in front of their peers and delivers lines that they’ve invested time, effort, and practice in, they see that they can do what they put their minds to, and understand that hard work pays off.

They’ll learn to trust in themselves. Is this a key life skill? Yes, we think so.

Drama imparts skills that will stay with your child FOR LIFE. This is certainly a big deal!!! This is all wrapped up in stories, presentations and staged discussions that will in themselves teach your kids life lessons and empathy.

Here at EDUKIDS TV club we really do believe that drama and other media communications art which we train children in, are an essential part of your child’s education as they provide a healthy, formative experience for your child as they grow.

If you’re interested in seeing the difference drama and media communication arts can make in your child’s self-confidence and life, register your child today. Send a message to our Director Onome Ahante. We look forward to helping your kids flourish!

The 2012 school year has begun smoothly and we hope everyone settles quickly into the school routine. To those families who have joined our school community for the first time I extend a special welcome and hope that the school meets your expectations for the formal education of your children. Parents must be their children’s best advocates – so in keeping with this belief our door is always open to concerns or queries that you may have from time to time. Thank you.

Our school lives are full of new beginnings. Whilst many adults fear and resist change children by and large meet it with enthusiasm and curiosity even with a sense of excitement. Despite some degree of bewilderment on the faces of our Prep students they approached their new beginning with confidence and enthusiasm. As parents and teachers we must work hard to keep the fires of enthusiasm and curiosity burning and instil in our children a love of learning. True seekers of knowledge need not be a rarity if the adults in children’s lives play their part.
o Encourage them to ask why
o Give positive feedback when deserved

Tips for Parents: When your child starts school

Recognize that the day your child first goes off to school is an
important event. It is the first major separation from the secure and familiar world of home and family, and it marks entrance into a new universe of friendship, learning, and adventure—a world that parents can never again entirely share. Your greatest gift to your child at this time is your loving support and understanding.
Remember that learning to like school and liking to learn are closely related. Your child’s first school experience can contribute to a good or bad attitude toward school in the years ahead.
Prepare your child for the new school experience by explaining what to expect and answering all questions honestly. A child may be anxious, and needs to know details such as how long they will be at school, in order to handle the stress involved.
Convey a positive attitude about school. If parents show enthusiasm for what the school experience can mean, the child is more likely to look forward to it.
Make transportation plans clear to the child. Introduce the walking route, or identify what the school bus will look like. Have older children watch out for the younger ones. If the child cries, try not to over-react; in most cases the tears will soon disappear.
Create a normal routine atmosphere at home the first few days of school. Take an active interest in what your child tells you about school. Be a good listener, allowing time to talk about school and the people there.
Give your child free playtime at home. Now that your child spends more time in a structured school environment, you should allow more free time at home for play.
Get to know your child’s teacher. Join the PTA, or volunteer in your child’s classroom.
Praise your child for the good things he/she has done. A pat on the back for the right answers can go a long way. Too often we tend to focus on poor performance and behavior.
Treat going to school as part of the normal course of events, something that is expected of your child and accepted by you. A calm, matter-of-fact, positive attitude is your goal.
Help your child cope with occasional frustrations and disappointments at school.
