She was 21. He was 61. And when she tried to leave, Pablo Picasso laughed and told her, “No one leaves Picasso.”
But she did.

For decades, Picasso broke the women who loved him.
Not just emotionally—completely.

Marie-Thérèse Walter later hanged herself.
Dora Maar spent years in psychiatric care.
Jacqueline Roque shot herself after his death.

His pattern was always the same:
Find a young woman.
Admire her.
Control her.
Use her.
Destroy her.

He once said women were “goddesses or doormats” and “machines for suffering.”

And no woman had ever escaped him.

Until Françoise Gilot.

He tried to erase her name from the art world.

But she refused to be erased.

She kept painting. She raised her children. She rebuilt her life piece by piece.

And in 1964, she published Life with Picasso—a brave, honest book that told the world the truth.
Picasso tried to ban it.
She called it freedom.

She said, “I owed the truth to other women.”

Her career grew. Her art reached major museums.
She became loved not as Picasso’s muse—but as Françoise Gilot, the artist.

Later, she found a gentle, respectful love with Jonas Salk—the man who created the polio vaccine.
“Picasso wanted to possess the world,” she said. “Jonas wanted to heal it.”

Picasso died in 1973, powerful but alone.
Françoise lived to 101—painting, teaching, living in her own light.

When asked how she found the courage to leave, she said only:
“Freedom is the one love worth keeping.”

Picasso painted her many times, trying to capture her.
But he never could.

Because she belonged to herself.

She didn’t just survive Picasso.
She escaped him.
She outlived him.
She became everything he said she could never be.

Sometimes the greatest masterpiece is refusing to be destroyed.

I have had time to reflect and reminísce on the bloody experience called Nigeria, an experiment that the scientists whose undertaking it was didn't believe in. The Nigeria estate is a contraption and not a state. The nations hastily hammered together after the Ekumeku war have all, without exception, refused to yield their statehood to the colonial marriage of convenience even when the name Nigeria came as a result of immoral liaison between two bounty hunters dwelling in sub-sahara Africa. The name wasn't ours, it was given by a people that hate all of us but love our resources. We all, Igbo, Haúsa, Yoruba, Urhobo, ijaw, Ibibio, Efik, Idoma, Tiv, Jukun, Nupe, Birom, Katafs, Kanuri, Biu,.Gwari Taro and all the over five hundred and sixty nation states lumped together by leprous minds who do not know us but felt it's within their rights to define us. The IGBOS obviously are not part of this political conjecture. We are not and was never made to feel we are a part of it. That has been the case during the colonial times, and post colonial times. The plan from unfolding historical scenes seem to be the perpetuating of slavery inspite of it's abolition. In Nigeria IGBOS seem to have been consigned to a life of servitude. And it's funny that some folks think we should not even speak in the face of planned pogrom, systematic destruction of IGBO holdings in the satirical free country. Okay, the, it will be our pleasure to be the nation that we are created to be, fly our own flags, stay within our boundary in the dot we are defined as,and then suffer in our landlocked destiny and die there. It will be our own fault if we volitionally apply to be reabsorbed into Nigeria.
By the way Nigeria as an entity has expired since 2014. What we have for the past 11 years is an expired and unlawful entity. Why don't we have a referendum conduct on this mindless contraption and prove whether , at least 50 percentage of the citizens believe in the present lie that has become our opiates.
Lastly, RELEASE MAZI NNAMDI KANU NOW. HE HAS DONE NOTHING THAT ANY PATRIOTIC LEADER IN THIS COUNTRY HADN'T THOUGHT OF BUT ARE TOO TIMID AND COWARDLY TO SPEAK OUT. When you identify patriot hail him and stop the silly games. This Biafra project is an awesome and undeniable project and is as immortal as the thought that flew into your mind just now. It's immortal and is a sword coming generations will bear with vehemence. I suggest the Nigeria state face it now by calling for a talk before it become late. When the beloved Ikemba began this project in the 60s Kanu and Ekpa were not yet born. When Sankara was the leader of Burkina Faso, Traore wasn't born but today, Sankara is alive in Traore and his compatriots. That's multiplication ✖️ isn't it?
