🌿 Promoting Language & Cultural Preservation Through Education 🌿
As part of Lagos State’s cultural initiative, every Wednesday is celebrated as Yorùbá Culture Day. In my school, we use this opportunity to deepen students’ understanding of Èdè Yorùbá through language and tradition.
Here’s what we explored 👇
HOMOGRAPHS (Òrò Oní-pón-òn-naa)
🔹 POOLO — from the adage “Kò sí ikú tó bá máa pa àgbà tí a ní bá poolo orí rẹ níbẹ,” meaning “No matter the death that kills an elder, the skull will always be found.”
👉 POOLO (AGBÁRÍ) = SKULL
🔹 PÒÒLÒ — commonly known as PÀKÚTÉ, meaning TRAP, used by hunters.
Empowering students to appreciate their linguistic heritage is part of my mission as an educator. Language is more than communication, it’s identity.
Èdè Yorùbá ò ní parun láṣẹ Ọlódùmarè. Àmín.
