*NYSC IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS*

To those several NOUN Students that are just curious to know if NOUN is already serving. Now, this updates below will clear your *_Curiousity_*

*Three NYSC documents side by side:*

*🟢 1. NYSC Discharge Certificate*
• *Who gets it?*
Graduates (Nigerian or foreign-trained) below 30 years old who successfully complete the one-year NYSC service.
• *Meaning:*
It shows you served the nation for 12 months.
• *Where it is needed:*
• Most employers in Nigeria (especially government jobs).
• For further studies (sometimes).
• For certain professional registrations.

*🟡 2. NYSC Exemption Certificate*
• *Who gets it?*
• Graduates who are 30 years old or above at the time of graduation.
• Those who have served in the military or paramilitary (Police, Army, etc.) before graduation.
• People with certain physical/medical conditions that disqualify them.
• *Meaning:*
You are legally exempted from service, but NYSC gives you an Exemption Certificate to prove it.
• Where it is needed:
• It is recognized by employers in place of a discharge certificate.

*🔵 3. NYSC Exclusion Letter*
• *Who gets it?*
• Graduates from part-time, distance learning, or sandwich programmes (e.g., NOUN, weekend studies).
• *Meaning:*
You are not required to serve, since you were not a full-time student. Instead, NYSC issues you an Exclusion Letter.
• *Where it is needed:*
• Some employers may accept it, but note that it does not carry the same weight as a discharge or exemption certificate.
• Often used just as proof that you are officially excluded from service.

*Explaining What Exclusion Letter Is*

*An exclusion letter* is an official document given to graduates of part-time, distance learning, or sandwich programmes who are not required to participate in the one-year compulsory NYSC service.

Instead of being mobilized for service like full-time graduates under 30 years old, these graduates are issued an Exclusion Letter by NYSC as proof of their exemption from the scheme.

*📌 Key things to know about the NYSC Exclusion Letter:*
• It is different from the Exemption Certificate (given to graduates above 30 years old or certain categories).
• It is issued to graduates of part-time programmes from universities and polytechnics (whether in Nigeria or abroad).
• It can be printed online from the NYSC portal after registration.
• It carries your details (name, school, course, and graduation year).
• Though you didn’t serve, it is still an official NYSC document that some employers request for record purposes.

*✅ Example:*
If you studied through NOUN (National Open University of Nigeria) or did a part-time program at another institution, you won’t be mobilized for service. Instead, you’ll be given an Exclusion Letter from NYSC.

Poverty reduces a MAN to a boy, a WOMAN to a girl. It's only Success that can turn your mockers into your workers. Salary is a short-term solution to a long-term problem. Show me a man who never takes risks and I'll show you a man who never accomplishes anything. Poverty does not die by fire. It dies by calculated hard work. You cannot cast a Six(6) except you throw a dice. Nothing is worse than missing an opportunity that would have changed your life. Don't be a POOR man who passes over opportunities repeatedly. When you see people who are making money genuinely, join them. Too much analysis leads to paralysis.

The more excuses you make the lesser the money in your pocket. Make a decision to escape from poverty today, make sure you earn something extra, learn a skill, write something for posterity, someone will appreciate your efforts and contribution.
