Every student going on IT faces this exact question.
Do I go for money, or do I go for experience?
Before I answer, let me quickly apologize to my bank account. Because it definitely disagrees with what I'm about to say. 😂
After searching for weeks, many of us end up taking a placement where learning comes first and the pay is low or non-existent.
Looking back, would I have traded experience for money?
Here is the truth! You are spending your time, energy, and transport fare to show up every day. Make it count.
Don’t just sit in a corner or wait for orders. Ask questions. Talk to people. Stay curious.
If someone says, "Don't touch that machine," don't just walk away ask, "Why?" Learn how it works. You are there to soak up knowledge, not just to fill a seat.
To be honest, there will be hard days. Days you will sit back and ask yourself why you did not look for a place that pays well.
But on those tough days, remember this.
Learning directly under professionals gives you a real edge. Especially when most jobs demand 1 to 2 years of experience before they even look at your resume.
Now, if you happen to find a place that pays well, awesome! Just know this.

At the end of the day, SIWES was created for one main reason.
Hands-on experience. Everything else is secondary.
Experience will always come first at this stage. And if a paycheck (or salary) comes with it? That is just icing on the cake.
