Clothes may also be called 'efe' or 'uwe' in Igbo. Ìgbò is a tonal language so it is important to learn the correct pronunciation of a word while learning the word....

This is what I try to explain to my learners. Beautifully articulated in a few sentences. 'Ndo' may translate to Sorry in English, but it means more than that. How do you translate 'Jisie ike' to capture its full meaning? Or 'Ewela iwe' which literally means 'Don't be angry' but is used in different contexts?
Translation is beyond finding an equivalent of a word in another language. One must ensure to communicate the sentiments conveyed by the word as well...
