With children still at home due to the pandemic, most parents have had to take up the role of being their children’s school teacher. Not surprisingly, most of them have quickly come to realize that the rate at which their children learn is different.

Some children are fast learners, and some may need a little extra support or a different learning approach to fully understand what they are being taught. That is why it is important to know the best method to apply for each child.

Click this link in our bio to find out the benefits of the student-centred approach, and how it help students develop and interest in learning: http://knowledgepillarstutors.com/blog/2020/05/19/helping-children-with-slow-learning-abilities/

Our educational quote of the day talks about reading.

"Reading" is the process of looking at a series of written symbols and getting meaning from them. When we read, we use our eyes to receive written symbols (letters, punctuation marks and spaces) and we use our brain to convert them into words, sentences and paragraphs that communicate something to us.
_
Reading can be silent (in our head) or aloud (so that other people can hear).
_
Reading is a receptive skill - through it we receive information. But the complex process of reading also requires the skill of speaking, so that we can pronounce the words that we read.
_
Reading is third of four language skills which are:
- Listening.
- Speaking.
- Reading.
- Writing.

One of the greatest gifts adults can give to their offspring and to their society is to read to children. Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or duty. It should be offered to them as a precious gift.

Our educational quote for today talks about critical thinking.

πŸ‘‰πŸ½ Critical thinking is also known as evaluative thinking.

πŸ‘‰πŸ½ Critical thinking does not necessarily mean being negative and critical.

πŸ‘‰πŸ½ Critical thinking is as an act of reasonably and reflectively deciding what to believe or do.
_

Getting students to become critical thinkers has the following effects:

πŸ“Œ Students become adventurous and broad thinkers.

πŸ“Œ Students learn how to generate innovative solutions.

πŸ“Œ Students apply their reasoning skills in analysis and evaluation.

πŸ“Œ Students plan and think strategically before embarking on a line of action.

Education plays a very vital role in boosting the confidence of a child. There is a level of enlightenment that comes with being educated, and this usually has a positive effect on the confidence level and the self-esteem of a child, and individuals.

The good news is, confidence and self-esteem in a child can be built and developed. It is imperative; however, that educators and caregivers take a proactive interest in student's self-esteem and make certain they address issues as they arise.

The home front also has a very active role to play. Parents that have violence in the home, or use negative words when speaking to their children, may not realize the damage that is being inflicted upon a child’s self-esteem. In these situations, children must be exposed to educators or other people who are a positive influence and help build the child’s confidence.

In conclusion, no matter what a child’s home life or personal experiences, it is never too late to begin building self-esteem in students. By doing so, you may be influencing a child in more ways than you could ever imagine.
