*NACOLM UNVEILS THE NEW COLLEGE NAME AS WELL AS INAUGURATES STUDENTS OF SENIOR LEADERSHIP AND STAFF OFFICERS COURSE 1/23 AND LOGISTICS STAFF COURSE 20/23*
The General Officer Commanding 81 Division (GOC 81 Div) Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Obinna Ajunwa who was the Special Guest of Honour (SGOH) earlier today Friday 27 January, 2023 inaugurated students of Senior Leadership and Staff Officers Course (SLSOC) 1/23 and Logistics Staff Officers Course 20/23. The event took place at the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM) permanent site, Ojo, Lagos.
While delivering his welcome address, the Commandant NACOLM, Major General Adekunle Adeyinka disclosed that since inception, the College has remained a centre of excellence especially for logistics training and general manpower development, not only for the NA but also for subscribing Services and agencies. He added that, the College recently took additional mandate of conducting leadership and staff courses at both junior and senior level. He further stressed that, the College proudly graduated the maiden set of the Junior Leadership and Staff Officers Course in December 2022.
Furthermore, the Commandant stressed on issue of resource management. He added that students are to remain mindful of the fact that the resources at their disposal which are time, space, money and material/equipment are to be utilized judiciously. He urged them to do their assignment and group work seriously and not to procrastinate.
Earlier, the SGOH used the combined occasion to unveil the new College name and logo located at the entrance of the Headquarters NACOLM Complex. While speaking during the event, the Commandant NACOLM stated that, in view of the College’s expanded scope, the Army Headquarters approved a review of the College’s name from the Nigerian Army College of Logistics (NACOL) to NACOLM. Adding that the reviewed mission, course/learning objectives, organizational structure and curricula were also approved for NACOLM. He added that, the development became imperative so as to align the College with the emerging needs of the Nigerian Army and international best practices.
Highlights of the event were the inaugural lecture by the SGOH on ‘Mentorship as a Tool for Effective Leadership Training: The NA in Perspective’, presentation of souvenir, refreshment and wining in of newly posted in NACOLM staff officers and students.
The hitch free event was attended by the Deputy Commandant/Director of Studies NACOLM, Major General MW Abubakar, who delivered the vote of thanks, representatives of Corps Commanders/Commandants of NA schools within 81 Div Area of Responsibility, staff officers of NACOLM, the College partners/collaborators amongst other invited guests.

*COAS DECLARES NASPRI MEDIA WORKSHOP OPEN Urges aggressive synergy among stakeholders to nip threats to national security
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya CFR has urged the military and other relevant security agencies to aggressively synergize, in efforts towards nipping in the bud contemporary threats to national security. He made this known during the opening ceremony of the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information (NASPRI) 2022 Media Workshop holding at the 81 Division Officers’ Mess, Outer Marina Lagos.

The COAS who was represented by the Chief of Staff Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport, Brigadier General Lateef Jimoh stated that this year’s edition of the yearly workshop is focused of confronting information disorder and misinformation through holistic mobilization of all society resources against every threat to national security. According to him, Nigeria is contending with numerous security challenges such as insurgency, banditry, violent separatist agitations, kidnap for ransom among others. He reiterated that the ability to surmount these security challenges depends solely on effective management of information orchestrated by mutual support among various security agencies and other stakeholders in information management.
Earlier, in his speech the Commandant NASPRI, Brigadier General Omale Ochagwuba stated that the main objective of the workshop is to create an enabling environment for interactions and cross fertilization of ideas by experts on contemporary information management and security in order to proffer solutions to the menace of information disorder and misinformation including malicious narratives that constitute threats to national security. General Ochagwuba used the medium to appreciate the COAS for approving funds for finishing of construction work at the school's permanent site in Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment, Giri Abuja.
The opening ceremony of the workshop which has the theme " Harnessing Whole of Society Approach to Curb the Menace of Information Disorder: National Security in Perspective" was graced by Commander 55 Signal Brigade, Brigadier General EO Oshunsan who represented the General Officer Commanding 81 Division Nigerian Army, Representives of various Corps Commanders, senior officers both serving and retired and heads of security agencies. The workshop is expected to last from 12 – 16 December 2022.
