Some posts back we shared five things to avoid when starting your clothing line.
Today we would be completing the second part, so grab your pen and paper and let’s go;
• 𝐏𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞: This results in losses & unnecessary stress. Do your research properly before adding people to your team.
• 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞: Having a beautiful design or product is great but if other parts of your business are not in proper order you stand a chance of loosing it all. Create a convenient time per day to work on the other aspects of your business like financing, branding, marketing etc.
• 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥: Do you need to get a loan, investment partner, support from family and friends, create a budget and be realistic. This would help prevent you running at a loss in the long run.
• 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐣𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: Research & plan the type of marketing you are going to use to advertise your brand and product to your target customer. Examples such as Facebook & instagram ads, google keywords, SEO, influencer marketing etc.
• 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭: This can be disastrous especially when you have worked so hard on your collection and you launch, only to hear crickets and no sales. Start planning your launch date early, create a buzz & awareness using social media, word of mouth etc before you launch.
