Early childhood education should provide a safe, enjoyable, and comfortable environment where children are afforded the freedom to feel seen.

Ever stumbled upon a lesson plan that felt more like a teacher’s solo performance script than a roadmap for discovery?
It’s a common trap: 20 minutes for the lecture, 15 minutes for the demonstration, and maybe 5 minutes left for a "any questions?" at the end. When the document is filled with what the teacher is *doing* rather than what the student is *experiencing*, we have to ask the hard question:
**Who is this lesson actually centered around?**
If the plan focuses on the teacher’s delivery instead of the learner’s transformation, it isn't a lesson plan—it's a monologue. True impact happens when we shift the spotlight, moving from being the "sage on the stage" to the "guide on the side."
Let’s talk about it in the comments: How do you ensure the learner stays at the heart of your planning? Is it time to "unlearn" the teacher-centric model?

Stop treating our four-year-olds like tiny corporate executives.
Right now, we’re swapping finger paints for standardized bubbles and wonder for worksheets. We’ve forgotten that preschool isn’t "Grade 0"—it’s a laboratory for curiosity. When we bury a child under irrelevant exams and "task-master" drills, we aren't giving them a head start; we’re just teaching them that learning is a chore.
The real world doesn't need people who can perfectly fill out a form at age five. It needs the dreamers, the "why" askers, and the messy-handed creators. Preschool should be the place where a child learns **how to learn**, not a place where their spark goes to die under the weight of unnecessary stress.
Let's make school a playground for the mind again, not a factory for fatigue.
**What’s your take? Are we pushing our little ones too hard, or is this "rigor" necessary?** **Drop your thoughts and contributions in the comments below!**
