The Federal Government has just issued a directive that Federal universities should remit 40 per cent of their revenue to FG purse.
We want to know the implication of this for these universities
Specifically, how will this impact on infrastructure, laboratories, power supply and maintenance of these institutions.

INTRODUCTION:
Examination malpractice is a serious issue that has been plaguing the education sector for decades. Unfortunately, students are one of the primary culprits who aid and abet this act. From impersonation to cheating on exams, students have found various ways to perpetrate examination malpractice. In this article, we delve into the various roles students play in promoting and abetting examination malpractice.
Role 1: Sharing of Answers
One of the most common ways students aid examination malpractice is by sharing answers during exams. This is usually done secretly and covertly to prevent being caught by invigilators. In some cases, students establish a network where they share exam answers among themselves. This way, they increase their chances of passing exams without putting in any effort.
Role 2: Impersonation
Another way students aid examination malpractice is by impersonating other students during exams. This happens when a student sits for an exam on behalf of another student, usually for a fee. This act has become a lucrative business for some students who are willing to risk their education and future for monetary gain.
Role 3: Use of Technologies
Technological devices such as phones, smartwatches, and calculators have also been used by students to cheat during exams. Some students use their phones to read answers or get help from someone else outside the exam hall. Others use smartwatches to store answers and retrieve them during the exam. Calculators are not exempt, as they have been programmed to store notes and formulas.
Role 4: Bribery
Bribery is another role students play in examination malpractice. This happens when students offer bribes to invigilators or examiners to allow them to cheat during exams. In some instances, students bribe staff to get access to exam questions or answers before the exam.
Conclusion:
The problem of examination malpractice is a complex one that requires the collaboration of all stakeholders in the education sector. While students play a significant role in abetting examination malpractice, it is essential to note that they are not solely responsible. The authorities, school management, and parents also have roles to play in curbing this menace. Students need to understand that examination malpractice is not only illegal but also detrimental to their future.

A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife open a package.
What food might this contain?" The mouse wondered - he was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.
Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning: There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"
The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, "Mr.Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it."
The mouse turned to the goat and told him, "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"
The goat sympathized, but said, "I am so very sorry, Mr.Mouse, but there is nothing I can do about it but pray. Be assured you are in my prayers."
The mouse turned to the cow and said "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"
The cow said, "Wow, Mr. Mouse. I'm sorry for you, but it's no skin off my nose."
So, the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer's mousetrap alone.
That very night a sound was heard throughout the house - like the sound of a mousetrap catching its prey.
The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness, she did not see it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught.
The snake bit the farmer's wife. The farmer rushed her to the hospital , and she returned home with a fever.
Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took his matchet to the farmyard for the soup's main Ingredient.
But his wife's sickness continued, so friends and neighbours came to sit with her around the clock.
To feed them, the farmer butchered the goat.
The farmer's wife did not get well; she died.
So many people came for her funeral, the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide enough meat for all of them.
The mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great sadness.
So, the next time you hear someone is facing a problem and think it doesn't concern you, remember when one of us is threatened, we are all at risk.
We are all involved in this amazing journey called life. We must keep an eye out for one another and make an extra effort to encourage one another.
Each of us may not be connected through a blood line, we may not even be friends. But we are all connected through humanity.
Copied.

I can remember vividly sometimes ago, I almost fell flat sequel to my ignorance of these three (3) things.
Your sleepless nights with consistent burning of candles is not enough, in fact; it can only determine your success in exams to some extent.

The problem most of us fail to observe is that; we're not competing with anyone, examination should not be the only thing that will spur you to study. As a friend do tell me "never study for an exam, but study to understand"
I've come to realise that; the majority read-only to fulfil all righteousness and not to understand.
Let this post be a correction to that mediocre mindset. Make hay now when the sun is still shining, remember "TIME FLIES"
Other mistakes will be dropped sequentially in my next post, anticipate!!!!

JUST IN: WAEC releases 2021 WASSCE with 81.7 per cent pass

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that 81.7 percent of the candidates that took the 2021 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates made credit passes in five subjects, including English and Mathematics.
It is the first time in more than one decade that Nigeria has recorded such performance.
Head of WAEC National Office, Mr. Patrick Areghan, said during a press briefing to announce the results on Monday at the Council headquarters in Yaba that of the 1,560,261 SS3 candidates that sat for the examination, 1,274,784 achieved the minimum benchmark needed for admission into the university.
Of the number, 630,138 (49.43 per cent) were male, while 644,646 (50.57 percent) were female.
When asked how such good performance was achieved, Areghan said the good performance should be attributed to efforts by the various states ministries of education, schools, and candidates.
โThe good performance was not our doing. It is the doing, the efforts of the various ministries, of education, schools and candidates. They may have used our chief examinerโs report to improve preparation for the examination.

โLet us not be doubting Thomases and incurable persimists. Our results are verifiable,โ he said.
For candidates in the Southeast whose examinations were disrupted by the sit-at-home activities of IPOB, Areghan said they were registered free of charge for the WASSCE for private candidates to take papers they missed.
He said the result was being released 45 days after the seven-week examination ended on October 8 despite serious challenges the Council faced in conducting and grading the examination.
โThe examination ended October 8, 2021 and today, Monday November 22, 2021 โ 45 days after the conduct of the last paper, we are releasing the result! This is a record time, taking into consideration the fact that we lost a week to insecurity, during the marking exercise in the Southeast, occasioned by the heightened tension before and during the Anambra gubernatorial election,โ he said.
Speaking on 2022 WASSCE, Areghan said, the fees had been increased from N13,950 to N18,000 per candidate as a result of increasing cost.
โWe have received approval from the appropriate quarters with effect from the WASSCE for school candidates 2022, to charge N18,000 per candidate. we are therefore asking all school principals to collect N18,000 per candidate for registration. A part of this new fee has been dedicated to the enhancement of the remunerations for the various examination functionaries,โ he said.
The HNO also said the timetable for examination would return to the normal May-June belt. He also said the National Identity Number (NIN) would be a prerequisite for registration, urging candidates to ensure they enrol before then.
โAnother component of the registration requirements will be the national identification number of candidates. schools will be expected to supply the NIN of every candidate as part of the registration requirements. this is in line with the directive of The honourable Minister of Education.
โWe advise all schools to comply accordingly. They should ensure that all their SS3 students and indeed, all students register to obtain their NIN in order to make the registration process seamless,โ he said.

BREAKING: FG bans SSS1, SSS2 students from taking external WASSCE, NECO, NABTEB
September 24, 2021 by Sodiq Oyeleke
The Federal Government has banned students in Senior Secondary School one and two from taking from applying for and taking external West African Senior School Certificate Examination, the National Examination Council, and National Business and Technical Examinations Board.
This was contained in a circular issued by the Federal Ministry of Education to principals of federal unity schools.
It was titled In the circular with no: FME/DBSE/US/DOC/III/16 and signed by the ministryโs Director Senior Secondary Education, Hajia Binta Abdulkadir.
The circular was confirmed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Ben Bem Goong, on Friday.
The government threatened to expel any SSS One and Two students who take the exams.
This, the education ministry, said would help to maintain decorum and boost standards of education in schools.
The circular read, โThe ministryโs attention has been drawn to the flagrant disregard to its directive on (the) writing of external examinations such as NABTEB (NTC and NBC), WASSCE, NECO (SSCE) by SS1 and SS2 students.
โStudents who are involved in the practice find it difficult to settle down on serious studies. They become unruly and distract other students from achieving their goals.
โAny student caught to have written any of the above examinations in SS1 or SS2 classes will be expelled from the college. All students must write these examinations after they have been duly registered for the examination by the college.
โAll students of Federal Unity College should adhere strictly to the content of this circular. And Principals are advised to bring the content of this circular to the knowledge of all parents of the college.โ
There are other forms of education not learnt in the classroom.
Acquiring basic skills, computer programmings and web developmentโ/designing, learning the use of musical instruments, dancing and other artistic abilities.
Travelling is also part of learning, you can go on vacation abroad if you can afford it, but if not, visiting the grandparents and learning new languages, culture and ways of life of our people is an informal part of education that is also very crucial, but not learnt within the four walls of the classroom.
A 3-6 yr old has no business been in school this holiday, the only adventure to explore is sleeping, eating and playing. There is a reason it's called a HOLIDAY!!!!
Allow your children explore new opportunities this time around, only then can we build " A Total Child".
Time is ticking to WAEC Examination....time- table is out and the work is on....keep your hrads up
PROF. OLOYEDE-LED JAMB ADMINISTRATION, A TOTAL MISFORTUNE TO THE MASSES...
It is high time we speak truth to power. It is time to express our feelings against many abnormalities that has engulfed the JAMB board in recent time. It is not an overstatement to have said the integrity proven by the JAMB registrar is nothing but total pretence.
Today, all policies made by the recent management of the board are intentionally to send children of the poor back to farm, without minding consequences in the nearest future.
*UTME REGISTRATIONS & ALLOCATION OF CENTRES*
The recent system in allocating centres to candidates has really shown that the board do not have power over the control of malpractices and that money spent every year to ensure improvement in technology is a total waste.
I think examination body has total control over the examination hall?
Why must students traveled kilometers in this time of banditry all because of writing a 2hours examination?
If a student in ogbomoso must be transfer to igboho, one in abeokuta be transferred to eruwa, etc. Does it mean if student in eruwa write within his/her town is an opportunity to malpractice? Then this is a high level of incompetency on the part board, JAMB.
*Mis-informing parents/guidance on cost of registration*
We had seen prof. moving from one CBT centre to another informing parents and guidance that JAMB registrations goes for just #3500. Is this not a total misinformation to the general public knowing fully well that no one could only pay #3500 without paying a compulsory novel charge of #500, which sum up the registration to #4000.
Also, we should ask prof. If CBT centres has been mandated to register students FREE OF CHARGE.
Another biggest slap on the face of the poor parents is the recent guidelines given to potential candidates who could not meet up with the registration, upon the fact that it was a total collapse of administration between the JAMB and NIMC, yet mandating the students to suffer and bear the cost of irresponsibility on the part of JAMB and NIMC.
The recent release of JAMB stated each candidate to make a draft of #4000 only. Students in oke-ogun, ogbomoso, ibarapa, oyo, etc will travel kilometers to obtain a form that could easily be generated online. As if that embarrassment was not enough, raising of bank draft is limited to a specific UBA bank in Ibadan, with the bank charge each candidate #4600 and issuing draft of #4000 to candidates.
Should we say banks are doing this without consent of the JAMB registrar? Why has this board turned Nigerian parents to second class citizens in our dear nation?
*Extorting the poor parents to raise money for federal government*
Prof. Oloyede led JAMB is taking advantage of illiteracy of many Nigerian parents to live large on them. If education cannot be totally free, should it be a source of income to the federal government that JAMB therefore remit billions of naira, all in the name of "the boy is good".
Jamb insist that parents should not consult a third party to get registered for the Examination.
Who will guide that child of the poor parent who happens to be the first to be educated to institution level in the whole of his extended family?
The disc you gave to candidates, how will a farmer who lives in total rural area without electricity have access to computer system?
Research has shown that JAMB intentionally want error for the students.
Why the need for anything 2nd, 3rd and 4th choice, when only the first choice can guarantee admission? The mandatory policy of changing any institution and course of choice is an automatic program that about 90% of students who sat for JAMB would make a second payment to the board, couple with the fact that many will change in more than one time.
Charges on profile code is another hidden way to play on intelligence of our parents. I can show you students who spent #1000, #2500, and above because of generating the mandatory profile code for JAMB registrations. Will the integrity of prof. Account for all this spendings? How do I believe in the integrity of a man who ensure separate Payment should be made for every error committed by candidates?
*Poor Admission Policy*
Policy on selection of students into their various institution of choice has been in place years before the emergence of Prof. Oloyede administration, but this seems to be the worst. In recent time, it as become a policy that gives "right to wrong and place bad ahead of good".
From your policy sir, students must change institutions to first choice before they could be admitted.
Is prof. at all aware of the recent happenings in the polytechnic of Ibadan and some other schools?
Students keep making them first choice through the JAMB platform, they sold their postutme forms to the students, yet not download the students to their portal which is an automatic lose of admission to such student.
You keep saying JAMB is in charge of admission, how has JAMB intervene to help out those poor students?
Secondly, admission quota was formerly into three branches; merit, catchment and sponsors.
Today, JAMB has made it four by adding, less privilege.
Who are the less privilege? What is the parameters for choosing less privilege?
Is it on financial ground? After students had been given equal opportunity during exams, JAMB still went ahead to select the northern part to have an extra benefit in admission over the southerners. All these are questions prof. Oloyede should provide answers to before the Nigerian parents can truly believe in your self acclaimed integrity.
2020/2021 admission process still in progress. Change of course and institution for the said year still active, yet you shot down portal indicating closure of 2021 JAMB form.
What should later be the hope of of those expecting admission, and might not at the end be admitted?
Are you saying they should also have obtained the 2021 form, indicating a double payment for same purpose under same body?
This is a total injustice to the students.
*My prayers*:
1. Jamb should investigate bank charges on profile code and immediately return all money deducted without supply of the code to the candidate.
2. The extra #600 charge by banks should immediately be returned to concern students as it was not in advertisement of the board. Failure to do this is a call for "OLOYEDE MUST GO"
3. Bank draft should be made easier to students by giving access to many other banks and the late registration form be made available online.
4. JAMB should make clarification on whom to blame, school or jamb, in time of dubious policies during the process of admission.
5. Quota for less privilege should immediately be scrapped if level play ground has sincerely be put in place during examination.
6. JAMB should retrieve the statement "only those with genuine reasons will be considered". No screening was conducted before giving go ahead to students to make the non-refundable #4000 that overnight became #4600. So why should their be any reason to screen out any candidate with fake or genuine reason.
