Sustainability is Now!
As global shifts throw up new demands in environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and governance frameworks, there is now increasing need fueling new roles to oversee organisational performance in these transitions.
In light of this, the Lagos Business School Sustainability Centre, in partnership with the Business Schools for Climate Leadership Africa (BS4CL Africa), hosted a webinar on Thursday, December 4, 2025, themed, ‘Career Paths in Sustainability & Climate Financing,’ exploring emerging careers, skills, and opportunities shaping the sustainability and climate finance landscape across Africa.
Discussions explored the rising demand for sustainability and climate finance talent across Africa, how global frameworks such as the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) continue to influence organisational priorities, the value of transferable skills, technical curiosity, and sector-specific expertise, as well as the importance of mentorship, professional networks, and continuous learning.
We extend our immense appreciation to our speakers and contributors: Sherwat Elwan Ibrahim, Professor of Operations Management, The American University in Cairo & Chair, UN Global Compact PRME Chapter Africa; Chinwe Ajene-Sagna, Member, Faculty, Lagos Business School and Member, BS4CL Africa; Anthony Kitema, Programme Officer, Initiative for Sustainable Landscapes (ISLA) Programme; Jonathan Ikeolumba, Alumnus, Lagos Business School and Post- Doctoral Fellow, LBS Sustainability Centre; Theresa Daniel-Akibor, Manager, Programmes Design and Management, LBS Sustainability Centre; and Kelechi Nnamdi, Senior Associate, Research and Industry Engagement, LBS Sustainability Centre.
