Parents, ChatGPT just got a teen version. 👀

OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT for Teens, designed for young people aged 13 to 17, and it comes with some pretty important changes.

Here is the gist:

• Stronger safety protections for teens
• Parents can link accounts and manage selected settings
• Parents can set Quiet Hours and Study Hours
• Study Mode can guide teens through learning instead of simply giving them answers
• Additional safeguards help reduce exposure to sensitive content
• The teen experience is rolling out globally to eligible accounts

One thing we find interesting?

AI is no longer something parents can simply tell their children to "stay away from."

It is becoming something they need to learn how to use well.

And that conversation starts at home.

Parents, would you feel more comfortable with your teenager using AI knowing these protections exist?

Parents, quick challenge.

How many of these can your child actually do without calling you?😂

Because there is a difference between a child who knows how to use technology and one who knows how to 'figure things out with it'

Search.
Create.
Troubleshoot.
Stay safe.
Learn independently.

And no, we are not saying your child should suddenly become their own IT department. 😂

But these little skills build something much bigger: confidence.

Next time they come to you with a tech problem, try asking:

"What have you tried so far?"

You might be surprised by what they figure out.

A proud teacher moment? Absolutely.

There is something special about watching a child take what they have learned and turn it into something of their own.

This is the work.
This is the progress.
This is the part that makes all those teaching moments worth it.

We showed them how.
They took it and made it theirs.

We could not be prouder🥹

Parents, you know that feeling when your child does something and you just have to say, “Wait... YOU made this?”

Yeah. That feeling.

We are not crying. You are. 🥹

One day, they might stop running to you with every little thing they make.

No more:

“Mummy, come and see!”

“Daddy, look what I did!”

“Come and see what I made!”

So while they are still creating, experimenting, making a mess and proudly showing you everything...

Let them.

Let them draw the weird thing.

Make the random video.

Build the little project.

Try the new app.

Make something that does not make sense to you yet.

Because sometimes, the thing they are making is not the important part.

It is the confidence they are building while making it.

Because those little “come and see” moments are the ones you will miss.

A new survey says a majority of parents consider a school's Artificial Intelligence policies when choosing where their children learn.

Because "Does the school teach Artificial Intelligence?" is slowly becoming a very different question from:

"Does the school teach children how to use Artificial Intelligence properly?"

I decided to bring the questions to you, dear mama and papa? What do you think?

Are schools ready?

Are children ready?

We are talking about creativity, critical thinking, privacy, fact-checking, responsible use and knowing when to put the AI down and think for yourself.
