A strong leader does not build a team that depends on their constant presence. A strong leader builds people who can think, make decisions, take responsibility, solve problems, and keep the vision moving forward.
Do not be threatened by the growth of the people you lead. Their growth is evidence that you are doing your job well.
Delegate responsibility. Share knowledge. Create opportunities. Trust your team. Correct when necessary, but give people room to grow.
The ultimate question is not, “What can my team do when I am around?”
It is:
“What can my team accomplish when I am not there?”
That is where leadership is truly tested.
