Preface

I am so happy to share From ABCs to Fluency in English for Basic 3, which is Volume 7 of our 10-volume Early Literacy Series. This special book is a core part of the Early Literacy Foundation, one of the 7 Pillars of the V-Concepts Comprehensive Educational Ecosystem. Our program helps pupils move seamlessly from basic sounds to building real confidence through structured lessons and verbal reasoning.

What Pupils Will Learn

Term 1: Foundations – Our learners begin with a deep dive into phonetic sounds such as the short and long /i/, /ɔ/, and the /bl/ vs. /cl/ consonant blends. They will master Morphemes and basic Noun types, explore thematic registers like “Family Relations” and “Buying and Selling,” and sharpen their logic through dictionary and alphabetical order practices. By writing their first compositions for this level, like How I Spent My Last Holiday, they begin to find their unique voice.

Term 2: Communication – Pupils expand their world by learning about ICT hardware, corporate offices, and tailoring registers. They will practice using Verbs, Tenses, and Adjectives while mastering vocabulary related to homophones and local currency. By identifying Syllables and word stress patterns, they strengthen both their vocabulary and cognitive focus through creative tasks like designing a classroom rules poster.

Term 3: Fluency – In our final term, pupils move toward mastery by using Prepositions, Conjunctions, and Articles. They will learn complex Diphthongs and Silent Letters, along with the structural mechanics of plant science and weather tracking. Through creative compositions like Crossing a Busy Road and descriptive plant labeling, our little pupils truly become independent readers.

What Pupils Will Learn

• Term 1: Foundations – Our learners begin with a deep dive into phonetic sounds such as /æ/, /aː/ and the Magic Letter ‘e’. They will master Singular and Plural Nouns, explore thematic registers like “Objects in the Classroom,” and sharpen their logic through “Alphabetical Order.” By writing their first composition for this level, My School, they begin to find their unique voice.

• Term 2: Communication – Pupils expand their world by learning about Masculine and Feminine Gender, Verb Tenses, and Consonant Blends. They will practise using Personal Pronouns while mastering vocabulary related to Home Activities and Sports. By identifying Antonyms and Synonyms, they strengthen their vocabulary and cognitive focus.

• Term 3: Fluency – In our final term, pupils move toward mastery by using Adverbs, Contractions, and Comparison. They will learn Consonant Digraphs and Silent Letters, along with the formal structure of a sentence. Through creative compositions like A Market and The Clock, our little pupils truly become independent readers.

Our program helps little learners move from basic sounds to building real confidence through structured lessons and verbal reasoning.

What Children Will Learn:

Term 1: Foundations – Our friends begin with a deep dive into Phonetic Sounds such as /æ/, /e/, and /ɔ/. They will master the Identification of Persons, explore Thematic Registers like "Objects in the Classroom", and sharpen their logic through Alphabetical Order and Dictionary Skills. By writing their first composition, 'Myself', they begin to find their unique voice.

Term 2: Communication – Children expand their world by learning about Senses, Shapes, and Colors. They will practice using Articles (A/An), Possessives, and Demonstratives (This/These) while mastering Vowel and Consonant blending. By matching numbers to objects and identifying "Antonyms and Synonyms," they strengthen their vocabulary and cognitive focus.

Term 3: Fluency – In our final term, children move toward mastery by using Past Tense and Continuous Actions. They will learn Consonant Blends (/θ/, /ʃ/, and /tʃ/), Prepositions, and the formal structure of a Sentence. Through creative compositions like “A Market” and “A Hospital”, our little learners truly become independent readers.

• Term 2: Communication – Children expand their world by learning about Neighborhoods and Transportation. They will practice using Adjectives and Conjunctions, master the Silent 'e' rule, and learn to identify gender. They will learn Consonant Blends, Prepositions, and begin the exciting journey of Composition. By writing about “When I Grow Up,” our little learners will truly feel like independent readers!
