In a world that often moves at a dizzying pace, it's easy to lose sight of the simple yet profound elements that bring joy and fulfillment to our lives: gratitude and service. These two interconnected concepts have the power to transform not only our own well-being but also the lives of those around us.

Gratitude is the art of acknowledging and appreciating the blessings, big and small, that grace our lives every day. It's about cultivating a mindset of abundance and focusing on the positive aspects of our existence. When we practice gratitude, we shift our attention away from what we lack and center it on what we have. We become aware of the beauty of a kind gesture, the warmth of a smile, and the wonder of nature's gifts. Gratitude opens our hearts and allows us to experience profound joy, contentment, and connection.

But gratitude does not stop at being grateful; it naturally flows into service. Service is the selfless act of giving back to others, of extending a helping hand to those in need. It is the embodiment of compassion and empathy, as we offer our time, skills, or resources to make a positive difference in someone else's life. Service reminds us that we are part of a greater whole, and our actions, no matter how small, can create ripples of kindness and change. It empowers us to be agents of love, generosity, and transformation.

When gratitude and service intertwine, a beautiful synergy emerges. Gratitude fuels our desire to serve, while service deepens our gratitude. They form a virtuous cycle that enriches our lives and the lives of others. As we express gratitude for the blessings in our lives, we become more aware of the needs of those around us. And as we engage in acts of service, we become more grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact.l ; we discover the true essence of our humanity and the immense power we possess to create a better world for all.

So i am lying down on the bed by force 🤣 and thinking how much we prioritize our families and children but not ourselves as mothers especially those who care for children or other family members with special needs.

Self-care is important for everyone, and that includes special needs moms.

1. Prioritize yourself: It's easy to put your child's needs before your own, but remember that taking care of yourself is essential. Set aside dedicated time each day or week to focus on your well-being. You cannot pour from an empty cup!

2. Seek support: Connect with other special needs moms or join support groups. Sharing experiences and challenges with others who understand can provide emotional support and valuable insights. Sometimes meeting with other special needs can hover around needs and challenges. It is important to also have friends outside this circle.

3. Delegate tasks: Don't hesitate to ask for help from family members, friends, or professionals. Delegate responsibilities to lighten your load and create more time for yourself. hire staff if you can afford it- chef, cleaners etc
4. Take breaks: Schedule regular breaks, even if it's just for a few minutes each day.

5. Practice self-compassion: Be kind to yourself and acknowledge that you're doing the best you can. Celebrate small victories and don't dwell on perceived shortcomings or guilt.

6. Maintain a healthy lifestyle: Eating well, staying hydrated, and getting regular exercise can boost your physical and mental well-being. Find activities that you enjoy and incorporate them into your routine.

7. Reach out to family, friends, or organizations that can provide assistance or respite care. Having a network of people you can rely on can provide relief and peace of mind.

8. It's important to establish boundaries to protect your time and energy. Learn to say no when needed and prioritize activities that are truly important to you. Something or someone makes you feel bad? Don’t hesitate to keep them out of your life.

Remember, self-care is not a luxury but a necessity. By taking care of yourself, you'll be better equipped to care for your child and face the challenges that come along.

Hey people, look who is in the news! It’s my lemon to lemonades story (at least part of it 😀).

It was lovely meeting with my warrior sisters for dinner and chats. We laughed and sighed over food and the conversation , as usual, was rich and deep and paved way into a deeper understanding of our individual strengths and resilience as well as our collective experiences.
The hours sped by quite quickly and we reluctantly gave each other hugs and bade our goodbyes with our hearts lighter and a firm resolve and conclusion that we are stronger together.

Can’t wait for the next edition! 😘😘

Just a few questions now that half the calendar year is gone and also a new school year is starting.

What is YOUR plan for your child? No, i don’t mean the plan set by the school , therapy center or government/local authority. Do you have a roadmap regarding your child ? The things you need to do, steps to take , activities to cover….
If you have one, is this documented somewhere ? Who knows about it?
Do you have an accountability partner? Someone you have discussed these with and who will help you go through ,scrutinise, and solidify these plans as well as hold you accountable each step of the way?
Who are you sharing these ideas with? Who is looking out for you to be sure you continue to work on them yet not burn out in the process - your mentor or ‘guardian angel’?

In our love for our children especially those with special needs and abilities , we might sometimes set unrealistic targets, set and forget or forget to set targets , goals and plans or we could simply either stop planning (leave everything to hope) or plan and execute too fast thereby wearing ourselves thin or losing steam altogether. Stress, strain and depression may set in gradually.

A journey is better with a companion. Who is walking with you? Remember that the special needs journey is a marathon not a sprint. Planning and support are important.

Good morning.

We are all called to live a life of impact. The focus ia not go outshine each other as we are all a reflection of the different shades of God. We are called to impact on our world, to live a purposeful life and be something to someone somewhere.
If i bring my light and you bring your light together we will light up the work to God’s glory.

Pause. Think.

why am i here? What is my purpose on earth? Am i living a life of impact?

Find your own purpose, don’t live another’s!You are uniquely you.

Good morning!

Yesterday , I spoke on ‘Parenting a child with Special Needs’ at the Motherhood Summit organised by and .
I highlighted the need to have a full understanding of the child’s needs, work with professionals , carry other member of the family especially spouses and siblings along as well as prioritize self care as a special needs parent among others.
I explained that it important to believe in and work with the you have rather than the child you think you show have. Every child is unique and will thrive differently and our job as parents is to build on their unique differences and tap into their strengths and interests and while there will also always be a grieving processpull through that and get to work on your child.
Due to issues with logistic, a pre recorded session was played and thereafter my team from joined the panel and responded to questions from the audience.
Again, I am humbled at the highly competent team of therapists that i have trained and nurtured through the years expeciallly Mrs Promise who represented me and led the team. I am proud of you and you know it!

From feedback i have continued to receive, it was a truly remarkable event and everyone went home with several life lessons. I can’t wait to be a part of next year’s event. Thank you . You are a gift to womankind.
