Digital skills are important, but digital capability alone does not guarantee better workforce performance. A team may have access to the right tools and still struggle with slow ex*****on, poor reporting, repeated corrections, or unclear workflows.

That is why Workforce Upgrade takes a broader approach, combining:
• Digital ex*****on
• Operational structure
• Productivity systems
• Collaboration processes
• Reporting discipline and workforce capability development

Workforce Upgrade is a system that helps organizations build digitally efficient teams that can execute smarter, collaborate better, and increase operational productivity leading to increased revenue.

The goal is not simply to teach employees how to use more tools, It is to help organizations create a workforce that knows how to use the right tools, follow effective systems, collaborate properly, and turn capability into measurable ex*****on, because technology can support performance, but the way people and systems work together determines the outcome.

My first international interview didn’t start with a tool. It started with a question I almost answered wrong: how would you run a hackathon, fully online?

I wanted to say Miro immediately — it was the obvious answer, the one that would have sounded confident and current. Instead, I walked the interviewer through the workflow first: how ideas get clustered, how you draw a circle around the actual problem before anyone starts solving it, how structured ideation moves a room from noise to direction. Only after that did I mention Miro, and only because they asked how I’d execute it online.

I’ve thought about that pause for years, especially now, watching professionals rush to stack AI tools on their CVs the way we once stacked software certifications. The tool was never the test. The workflow was.

Every AI-shaped interview question being asked right now — “how would you use AI to do X”, is really asking the same thing that interviewer asked me: do you understand this problem well enough to direct a tool, or are you hoping the tool will think for you?

That’s the gap I built Module 4 of WFS around. Not another tool tutorial, a way of running work that makes any tool, AI included, the easy part.

Learn the workflow. The tool will follow.

While I was still on the PhD track in the UK, I knew I wanted my work to matter beyond a classroom, I just didn’t know yet what that looked like. So when I had the chance to meet a professor in person, I took it, even though I couldn’t afford the easy way to get there. I got on a long-distance bus from Aberdeen to Liverpool.

She described herself as a “multipotentialite”, someone who had taken deep expertise built in one field and deliberately carried it into others: academia, industry, vocational work, wherever it was useful. It sounds simple written down. In that moment, it rearranged how I thought about my own career.

I had assumed the skill set I was building through my research was locked to one destination, stay in academia, become a lecturer. That conversation was the first time I understood it wasn’t locked to anything. It was transferable. I didn’t need to learn something new. I needed to recognize what I already had, and where else it could go.

I think about that bus ride whenever I meet a professional who’s stayed comfortable in one way of working for years — not because it still serves them, but because it’s familiar. Comfort feels safe. It rarely is. The market keeps moving, and skill sets that stop being reassessed quietly lose reach, even while the person holding them keeps working hard.

This is what Module 1 of WFS is built around, not chasing a new skill, but getting honest clarity on where the one you already have can actually take you.
