ENHANCING COOPERATIVE GOVERNANCE: LASCOCO CONCLUDES ANNUAL 2-DAY INDUCTION AND REFRESHER PROGRAMME]
Lagos State Cooperative College (LASCOCO) has again reaffirmed its commitment to professionalizing the cooperative movement in Lagos State. Between Tuesday, April 14, and Wednesday, April 15, 2026, the College hosted its flagship annual training for both new and seasoned cooperators at our Oko-Oba, Agege campus.
Day 1 focused on laying a solid foundation for new entrants. Mr. Omolola A.S. (Asst. Director of Cooperatives) dissected Loan and Credit Management, followed by Mr. Gbolahan Oduola who simplified Basic Books and Record Keeping.
The session was rounded off by Mr. Bakare (Deputy Director, Cooperatives), who provided a deep dive into the legal framework governing societies.
Day 2 raised the bar for our established cooperators. Industry veterans Mr. Gbolahan Oduola, Mr. Kolawole Rasaki, and Mrs. Ayo Abiodun (Deputy Director) led masterclasses on Audit, Financial Accounting, and Fund Control Mechanisms, respectively.
Beyond the classroom, the College ensured a seamless experience for all participants with comprehensive seminar packs and full hospitality.
At LASCOCO, we don't just teach; we build the pillars of economic sustainability for a greater Lagos.

EMPOWERING PROFESSIONALS: LASCOCO KICKS OFF MAIDEN ANNUAL WORKSHOP FOR PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA STUDENTS
In a strategic move to deepen professional competence and practical excellence within the cooperative sector, the Lagos State Cooperative College (LASCOCO) has commenced its 2-day Maiden Annual Workshop for Professional Diploma students.
The Provost of the College, Dr. Walid Gbadebo Adebosin, officially declared the workshop open on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the College campus. While performing the opening honors, the Provost emphasized that the initiative is a core part of the College’s commitment to bridging the gap between classroom theory and real-world cooperative administration.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Adebosin remarked: "Our goal is to move beyond certificates to capacity building. This workshop is designed to sharpen your professional edge and ensure you are equipped with the modern tools needed to lead cooperative institutions with transparency, innovation, and ethical standards. I urge you to absorb the wealth of experience brought by our facilitators to become transformative agents in the Lagos State economic ecosystem."

DRIVING THE T.H.E.M.E.S PLUS AGENDA: LASCOCO CELEBRATES 6TH MATRICULATION CEREMONY.
The multipurpose hall of the Lagos State Cooperative College (LASCOCO) was transformed into a hub of academic celebration yesterday, March 12, 2026, as the College held its 6th Matriculation Ceremony. It was an inspiring day dedicated to officially welcoming a new generation of leaders and innovators into the College’s esteemed academic community.
Anchored by the Registrar, Mrs. Harrison-Fasakin Senume Omolade, the ceremony saw students from various departments formally inducted into the academic community after taking their solemn oaths. In a symbolic display of academic tradition, Departmental Heads presented their students to the Provost across the College’s key programmes, including National Diploma (ND) students in Computer Studies, Cooperative Economics and Management, and Micro-Finance & Enterprise Development, alongside those in the Professional Diploma in Cooperative Studies and our flagship Skill Acquisition Programme.
Delivering his remarks, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Mr. Oyebowale R. Raji, FCA, reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to transforming LASCOCO into a premier African hub for cooperative education and entrepreneurship. He expressed profound gratitude to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his unwavering investment in youth empowerment and urged the matriculants to use their acquired knowledge to uplift society and innovate with integrity.
In his address, the Provost, Dr. Walid Gbadebo Adebosin, highlighted how the College’s technical and vocational training directly supports the State’s strategic THEMES Plus development agenda. He noted the success of the Technical Skill-Up Programme, which prepares students for internationally recognized certifications like City & Guilds, while challenging the students to move beyond seeking certificates toward building the capacity to think critically and solve real-world problems.

WORKING VISIT OF THE PERMANENT SECRETARY, MCCTI, TO LAGOS STATE COOPERATIVE COLLEGE
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment (MCCTI), Mr. Onigbanjo Babatunde Muhammed–Thanni, paid a working visit to Lagos State Cooperative College, Oko Oba, Agege on Monday, 23rd February 2026.
In his address to Management and Staff, the Permanent Secretary commended the College community for their commitment to institutional growth and encouraged continued teamwork, diligence and shared responsibility in advancing the academic environment of the College.
He emphasised discipline as a foundational value, noting that lecturers must embody integrity and uprightness, as the quality of graduates depends not only on knowledge acquired but also on character formed. He reiterated that certificates awarded by the College must consistently reflect graduates found worthy in both knowledge and character, in line with the standards of Lagos State.
Following the meeting, the Provost conducted a guided tour of the College’s facilities, providing the Permanent Secretary with firsthand insight into the institution’s academic infrastructure and ongoing developments.
The visit reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening governance, academic excellence and institutional advancement at Lagos State Cooperative College.
