"MAXIMISE THIS DAY"

ā€˜This is the day the Lord has made...’ Psalm 118:24 NKJV

GOD DETERMINES the number of your days, but you determine how they are spent. The Psalmist said, ā€˜This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.’ Yesterday is a cancelled cheque, tomorrow is a promissory note, today is all you’ve got. And you can begin your life over today, if you live by these words: ā€˜Today I will delete from my diary two days—yesterday and tomorrow. Yesterday was for learning; tomorrow will be a consequence of what I do today. Today, I will face life with the conviction that this day will never return, that it may be the last opportunity I’ll have to contribute because there’s no guarantee I’ll see tomorrow. Today, I will be courageous enough not to let opportunity pass me by; my only alternative will be to succeed. Today, I will invest my most valuable resource, my time, into my most important possession, the life God has given me. I’ll spend each minute purposefully, making today a unique opportunity. I’ll tackle each obstacle knowing that with God’s help I can overcome it. Today, I will resist doubt and pessimism and warm my world with a smile. I’ll maintain a strong faith, expect nothing but the best, take time to be happy, see every task as an opportunity to honour the Lord, and endeavour to leave His footprints on the hearts of those I meet.’ John Boykin wrote, ā€˜Time is your life—nothing more, nothing less. The way you spend your hours and your days is the way you spend your life.’ So pray, ā€˜Lord, help me to maximise this day.’

"FAITHFULNESS (2)"
ā€œIt is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.ā€ 1 Corinthians 4: 2 NIV

FAITHFULNESS REQUIRES making 100 percent of your effort 100 percent of the time. Insight magazine once published an article by Gary Sheer called ā€œStrive for Perfection…or Else!ā€ It contained some alarming facts! The article said if 99.9 percent was good enough, 103,260 income tax returns would be processed incorrectly that year…22,000 checks would be deducted from the wrong bank accounts within that next sixty minutes…12 babies would be given to the wrong parents each day…2 plane landings daily at O’Hare International Airport would be unsafe…18,322 pieces of mail would be mishandled within that next hour…291 pacemaker operations would be performed incorrectly that year…880,000 credit cards in circulation would turn out to have incorrect cardholder information on their magnetic strips…20,000 incorrect drug prescriptions would be written within that next twelve months…and 107 incorrect medical procedures would be performed by the end of that day. Those are pretty sobering statistics—especially if you are one of the people whose life is affected! Here is the bottom line: Only your best should be good enough in any situation. Anything less than that will never be good enough because it reflects your failure to be totally faithful and completely dependable. That’s why the Bible says, ā€œIt is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.ā€ With God, faithfulness isn’t merely a concept or a suggestion; it’s a requirement of all who serve Him—and that includes you!

šŸ˜€šŸŒ¹šŸŒŗšŸŽšŸŽ€šŸ’ MORNING TEA. THE WORD FOR TODAY
TUESDAY NOVEMBER 1, 2022.
"ARE YOU DOING GOD’S WILL?"
ā€œWhoever does the will of God lives forever.ā€ 1 John 2:17 NIV

THE THING that should matter to you most is doing God’s will. And here is why: God’s will is the only thing that will last forever. God has a plan for your life, and that plan constitutes His ā€œwillā€ for you. So how can you know God’s will? Try to imagine these two things: (1) A Polaroid picture. Remember those? You took the shot and out popped a picture. At first it wasn’t clear, so you had to wait. But as you continued to wait, the picture became clearer. That’s like God’s will. ā€œThe path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble. My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their fleshā€ (Proverbs 4:18-22 KJV). (2) A scroll. If God showed you His entire will for your life at one time—you would be overwhelmed. But like unraveling an old-fashioned scroll, He reveals His will to you little by little as you become mature and able to handle it. And since it’s God’s will, you need His power to fulfill it. You also need the assurance of His presence with you. And He promises this in His Word: ā€œBeing confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christā€ (Philippians 1: 6 KJV).

"OVERCOMING DISCOURAGEMENT (1)"
ā€œAh, Sovereign Lord…Nothing is too hard for you.ā€ Jeremiah 32:17 NIV

IF THE issue you’re wrestling with has discouraged you and gotten you down, here is what you need to do: First, take a short look at the problem. Someone once said, ā€œTo hatch despair, just brood over your troubles.ā€ Many people who experience setbacks ask why. But they never move beyond the question to the answer. Certainly, you can’t solve your problems by ignoring them, but you can’t solve them by becoming fixated and immobilized by them either. Once you recognize and analyze the problem, you need to focus on the solution. Second, take a long look at the possibilities. Sometimes the problem you face can help you see possibilities you didn’t know existed. When Louis Waterman needed to sign a document to close a deal, the fountain pen he was using wouldn’t write. As a result, Waterman worked to develop the now-famous fountain pen that bears his name worldwide. A culture Dr. Alexander Fleming was working on in St. Mary’s Hospital in London was altered when mold was accidentally introduced into it. But the result gave birth to the miracle drug penicillin, saving millions of lives. It’s very likely that if you’re facing something negative today, there is an opportunity contained in it somewhere, somehow. It may not be easy to find, and it may not lead to a major breakthrough like it did for Waterman and Fleming. But then again—it might—especially if it causes you to turn to God for answers. In the words of Jeremiah, ā€œAh, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.ā€
