How to get customers to your business. Volume 1
As an onlineprenure, how do you know who your customers are?
In this episode, I will be discussing how to find your right audience online.
The first question you need to ask yourself is what kind of category of sellers do I fall into.
We have two broad categories, namely, Product and services.
Under product, we have physical products, and we have digital products. Under services, we have Business-to-consumer agencies (B2C), and Business-to-business (B2B).
Today, we will focus on physical products, and pick it from there, in each episode.
Let's take, for example, I sell female wears, which comprises of party dress, nighties, corporate and casual wears, bags, and shoes (no lingeries)
Who will my ideal customers be?
You have to start broad, and start narrowing in down, to capture every segment of your customer Base.
Now, let's list them out.
1) All females online above 18 years of age.
2) All males, that have girlfriends, sisters and mum
3) Females that works in an establishment (offices)
4) All females in my state of business.
This is the broad view of my customer base
Now, you have to narrow it, or to use the right social term, detail target them. Let's start with the first broad customer base, and narrow it
1a) All female customers, above 18 years.
- that has at least a higher diplomer/ Bsc/ MSC.
- That has birthday in the month or January, February, march, etc.
- that likes Louis Vuitton official page on Facebook
- that has travelled out of the country once. The list endless.
You get the idea. Out of all the females that are, at least, 18 years of age. Do I want them to use iPhone, or android? All these can define your customer base from start, and can help you to structure your business better.
2a) All males that have girlfriend, sisters or mum.
- that are engaged or married on Facebook
- belongs to groups that are for relationships or families
- Average income of xyz
- lives in xyz city
- and the list goes on.
Once you figure out all you predefined list of potential customers online, this doesn't automatically spells it out, that you have defined your business customers rightly.
You will need to test it out, and get market feedback.
You can test your predefined audience in two ways,
Free traffic or paid traffic.
To use free traffic, you have to know where your preselected audience are have conversations and join the conversations, this mostly happens in groups, on Facebook, trends, and hashtags on Instagram, and tweets on WhatsApp.
To use the paid features, you have to use audience insight on Facebook with targeting option (We will shed more light on Facebook business and you, in other episode).
Once you test your market, and they will either respond positively or neg*tively. Either way, you can review your customers base, and your where your hotspot customers are, and what combination of audience fits them
Goodluck in your business.
