You cannot afford to leave your mind or brain empty, because it must have something to work on or work with.

The brain is a workshop that needs to be filled with something. If you leave your mind empty, it will work on those things that have feed it in the past or your present circumstances.

If those things you have fed your mind in the past are edible, fine, the brain has something to work with.

However, the brain might not effectively capture the past so it can rely on your present circumstances. I hope those recent experiences are good. if they are not you need to feed the brain with good things if you want the outcome of your life to be good.

The brain needs to be feed intentionally and consistently

Doing things effectively with much aplomb takes time and practice. Yes, you need to be patient with what you are doing consistently. You cannot become a master of your craft overnight. It takes toil and diligent practice to become a master of your trade. It also takes time to convince people that you have got the integrity and skill to carryout and endeavor.

So when you startout as a novice you become a genius at what you do through diligent work. So you need to put in the needed work to excel.

You also need to keep evolving . You cannot afford to remain stagnant

I was in class today teaching a certain aspect of IELTS reading, the Matching Header. A first time student who performed averagely asked 'when will she be able to master the principles' I taught. I told her she need to read consistently, apply the principles consistently for about four weeks if she wants to score 8.0 or above in IELTS reading

She desired the result, 8.0. She has been out of school for ten years. In the said period she has not been involved in any rigorous or academic reading. So she has no choice but to read consistently if she aims to score high in IELTS reading.

The same applies to all spheres of life. if you desire to excel in any field you need to work consistently, even if that field is your passion. You can have sporadic success based on talent but to succeed consistently, you need to put in the consistent work.

Challenges make you understand yourself better, because in it your real strength and weaknesses are revealed. However you can build strength and character in difficult times. You can tap into your innate resources, that is what you have fed your mind over time, and use them to combat challenges
