There is something special about places that bring people together.

Today was a reminder that strong communities are built through genuine human connection, people who choose to serve, encourage, and show up for one another.

Some moments leave you speechless. This was one of them.

At the 8th WISTA Africa Regional Conference, held on 25–26 June 2026 at Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos, I received a surprise I never saw coming—the Trailblazer Award on behalf of the Women for Social and Rural Development Initiative (WSRDI).

I am deeply honoured and sincerely grateful for this recognition of our work with underserved women and communities.

Recognition is encouraging, but what means even more is knowing that the quiet work happening in communities, the conversations, the advocacy, the training, the partnerships, and the countless hours invested in creating opportunities for women.

The conference, themed “From Policy to Implementation: Women Advancing Africa’s Blue Economy through Sustainable Shipping, Trade and Energy Innovation,” was an inspiring gathering of leaders from across Africa, united by a shared commitment to turning ideas into measurable impact.

It was a privilege to listen to the keynote address by Dr Dakuku Peterside, whose insights reinforced the importance of moving from policy to purposeful action.

My sincere appreciation goes to Jean Chiazor Anishere, (SAN) , for this honour and for your unwavering commitment to advancing women’s leadership.

Thank you to our President, Odunayo Ani, and the entire WISTA team for delivering such an outstanding conference.

This award belongs to every woman whose resilience inspires our work, every partner who believes in our vision, and every volunteer and team member who continues to serve with passion and commitment.

We still have much work to do.

Together, we will continue empowering women, strengthening communities, and creating opportunities that transform lives.

There is something I have observed over the years working with women across different communities.

Many women are not held back by a lack of talent or potential. They are held back because they are waiting for permission , permission to lead, to speak, to build, or simply to believe they are enough.

I have met market traders, teachers, young graduates, entrepreneurs, and mothers rebuilding their lives after difficult seasons. Although their stories are different, one thing remains constant.

The resilience is there.
The ability is there.
The vision is there.

What is often missing is someone who looks them in the eye and says, “You already qualify.”

That is why I do the work I do.

Every training, every conversation, every mentorship session, and every community engagement is an opportunity to remind women that leadership does not begin with a title. It begins with a decision to step forward.

So if you have been waiting for permission to embrace your purpose, let this be your reminder.

Believe in yourself.
Trust your journey.
Take the first step.

I wrote A Letter to All Women because I kept meeting her.

The woman who had given so much of herself to everyone around her that she had forgotten who she was.

The woman who was capable of so much more but had convinced herself that her season had passed.
The woman quietly carrying dreams she had never told anyone about.

I wrote it for her. And honestly, I wrote it for myself too.
Because resilience is not something you either have or you do not have. It is something you choose, sometimes daily, sometimes hourly, in the middle of everything life throws at you.

A few days ago, A Letter to All Women came to life in the most beautiful way.
What started as words written from my heart became a room full of love, support, reflection, and shared purpose.

This book was written for women who have carried a lot…
Women who have given, paused, fallen, risen, questioned, healed, and are still standing.
And to see that message received with so much warmth reminded me why I wrote it in the first place.

We also unveiled the Women’s Leadership Camp Initiative , a vision that is very close to my heart. It’s about creating space for women to rebuild confidence, rediscover purpose, and gain the tools to move forward with strength and dignity.

I’m deeply grateful to everyone who showed up, spoke up, supported, pledged, prayed, and believed. You made this moment unforgettable.
