Ostriches are precocial, meaning chicks follow and bond with the first big moving thing they see after hatching. In the wild that’s mom. Chicks are hatched in incubators and raised by keepers who feed them, clean them, and handle them daily. They spend months seeing humans as “safe + food + social partner.”
Ostriches have a critical imprinting window in the first 6-8 weeks. If humans are the main social stimulus then, the chick’s brain wires “human = my species.” By the time they’re 2-3 years old and sexually mature, they’re imprinted. So they treat humans like potential mates.
It’s not that ostriches “prefer” humans, it’s that their brain made a mistake during the imprinting window. To them, the keeper who fed them for 6 months is an ostrich and that breaks their natural breeding behavior.🥀

The world record for the most push-ups in a row (consecutive, non-stop) is 10,507 by Minoru Yoshida of Japan, achieved in October 1980. This record is widely considered the absolute pinnacle of endurance, and Guinness World Records has since stopped tracking this specific "no rest" category to prioritize safety, shifting focus to time-based challenges.🥀

Hummingbirds consume roughly half their body weight in sugar (nectar and insects) daily to support their high metabolism. If humans have a similar metabolism, we would need to eat 300 pounds of food daily. They feed every 10–15 minutes, visiting 1,000–2,000 flowers a day, and consume approximately 1/4 ounce (7 grams) of nectar daily. Without this constant intake, a hummingbird's body temperature would plummet, and it would face starvation in as little as two hours. Because of their immense energy needs, they enter a deep sleep-like state called torpor at night to avoid starving.🥀

Whale shark skin is remarkably thick, measuring up to 10 centimeters (4 inches) in thickness, which is considered the thickest skin of any living creature. This protective, rubbery layer is tougher than a car tire and protects them from predators and parasites. The skin is covered in dermal denticles—small, tooth-like structures and it acts as armor, offering protection against potential predators like [killer whales] and [large sharks], and assists in maintaining body structure.🥀

An eagle's eyesight is extraordinary, roughly 4 to 8 times sharper than a human's, featuring 20/5 vision. They can spot prey, such as a rabbit, from over 3 kilometers (nearly 2 miles) away. Their eyes are designed for high-resolution, long-distance spotting, with the ability to see in vibrant color and detect UV light. While humans have 20/20 vision, eagles possess 20/5 vision, meaning they can see details at 20 feet that a human can only see at 5 feet. They can identify prey from up to 3 kilometers (2 miles) away, which is 3.6 to 3.8 times better than human vision.
Eagles see ultraviolet (UV) light, allowing them to spot prey by tracking UV-reflective urine or patterns on fur and with a 340-degree field of view and two foveae (focal points) in each eye, they have both excellent peripheral vision and intense, magnified focus. Their retinas have over twice as many cone cells as humans per square millimeter, resulting in incredibly sharp images. Their large, prominent brows serve as shade to block glare, enhancing their ability to see in bright sunlight.🥀

Walking the entire length of the Great Wall of China takes approximately 17 to 18 months, covering a total distance of over 21,000 kilometers (around 13,000 miles) of rugged terrain. It is not a continuous, straight structure but rather a series of walls built over 2,000 years, featuring steep slopes and collapsed sections that make progress slow.
A comprehensive trek of the Ming Dynasty wall (roughly 8,851 km to 21,196 km depending on the survey) requires over 440 days, often 17-18 months, when allowing for rest and challenging terrain.🥀

In April 2019, Brazilian police arrested a parrot during a drug raid in Vila Irmã Dulce, a neighborhood in Teresina, for its role in warning drug dealers about the police presence. The bird was trained by its owners to shout "Mamãe, polícia!" (Portuguese for "Mom, the police!") whenever officers approached the drug den, a tactic used to give dealers time to hide illegal substances.
Despite its active role as a lookout, the parrot remained silent after being detained, refusing to "sing" or speak to the officers. A local vet and officers confirmed the parrot did not make a sound while in custody. The parrot was eventually handed over to a local zoo, where it was trained to fly before being released.🥀

When you undergo laser tattoo removal, the ink is not actually removed from the body by the laser; rather, the laser breaks the large ink particles into tiny, microscopic fragments. Your immune system then treats these particles as waste, transporting them to the liver and kidneys, where they are eliminated through sweat, urine, or f***s.
The laser breaks down the large pigment particles in the skin, which were previously too big for your white blood cells (macrophages) to move. White blood cells then consume these smaller pieces of ink and transport them through the lymphatic system. These particles are processed by the body and expelled, with a significant amount of the metabolized ink exiting via f***l matter.🥀

Male fruit flies (Drosophila melanogaster) that are rejected by females for mating significantly increase their alcohol consumption compared to sexually satisfied males. This behavior is driven by changes in the brain's reward system, specifically involving lower levels of a substance called neuropeptide F (NPF).
When male fruit flies are rejected, the lack of mating triggers a, low-reward state, leading them to seek alcohol as a substitute reward. In experiments published in Science, sexually rejected males preferred food with higher alcohol content compared to mated, satisfied males.
Alcohol consumption in fruit flies is often linked to finding food and increasing chances for survival, with some evidence suggesting alcohol can make males more attractive to females in specific contexts.🥀

The sunfish is the heaviest bony fish in the world. Their size difference from birth (about the size of a grain of rice) to adult is insane, they increase in weight about 60 million times their original weight. If a human baby did that, a 3 kg newborn would end up at 180,000,000 kg — the weight of 30,000 African elephants.
If you lined up a newborn sunfish next to its mom, you'd need a microscope to see the baby. The mom would be 1300x longer and 2.7 billion times heavier. Scientists still barely understand how they do it. Sunfish larvae are so rare in the wild that most photos you see are from the 1800s.🥀

An average person consumes approximately 35 tons (roughly 35,000 kg) of food in their lifetime. This equates to roughly 2,000 pounds of food per year, or about 4–5 pounds of food daily, depending on age and location. For perspective, that is the weight of a small car every year.
On average, people spend roughly 3.6 years eating in their lifetime. 🥀
