Agency for Mass Education Hosts Leadership Training to Strengthen Organizational Impact

The Agency for Mass Education has taken a significant step towards enhancing its operational effectiveness by conducting a one-day, in-house management training on Monday, 24th November, 2025. The session, themed “Strengthening Teamwork, Leadership, and Strategic Thinking for Enhanced Organizational Impact,” was designed to equip the agency's leadership with advanced skills to drive performance and engagement.

The intensive training focused on key pillars of modern management, including fostering effective collaboration, refining leadership capabilities, and developing strategic thinking. The curriculum was specifically tailored to improve internal management practices and boost employee engagement, with the ultimate goal of amplifying the Agency's impact in the community.

In her opening remarks, the Director of the Agency, Mrs. Oluwakemi Kalesanwo, set the tone for the day. She highlighted the strategic value of the training, stating, “To achieve our ambitious organizational goals, it is essential to periodically step outside our daily routines and gain fresh perspectives. This forum provides a dedicated space for our management team to refocus, re-energize, and align on the strategies that will propel our mission forward.”

The training is a core part of the Agency’s ongoing commitment to investing in its human capital and building a resilient, forward-thinking leadership team capable of meeting future challenges.

NATIONAL MASS EDUCATION COMMISSION AND LAGOS STATE AGENCY FOR MASS EDUCATION COMMENCE NEEDS ASSESSMENT AND MAPPING OF LEARNERS IN LAGOS STATE

The National Mass Education Commission (NMEC), in collaboration with the Lagos State Agency for Mass Education under the supervision of the Ministry of Tertiary Education, commences
a comprehensive needs assessment and mapping of learners across selected communities in Lagos State starting from Monday, 15th September to Saturday, 20th September 2025.

The exercise, which will take place in Alimosho, Badagry, and Ikorodu Local Government Areas, is aimed at identifying and capturing out-of-school youths aged 15 years and above for inclusion in mass literacy and continuing education programmes.

This initiative underscores the commitment of both agencies to tackle the challenge of illiteracy, promote lifelong learning, and ensure access to functional education for all, especially vulnerable groups.

Community leaders, parents, and stakeholders are encouraged to support and mobilize eligible youths for participation in this important exercise.

Lagos Agency, TechnoServe Conclude “Train the Trainer” Workshop

The Lagos State Agency for Mass Education, in partnership with TechnoServe Business Solutions to Poverty, on Thursday, 11th September 2025, concluded a three-day “Train the Trainer” workshop on entrepreneurial and employability skills under the SAY-WEE Project.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tertiary Education, Mr. Adeniran Kasali, conveyed the appreciation of the Honourable Commissioner, Hon. Sule Tolani, to TechnoServe for what he described as a laudable initiative extended to the Agency. He encouraged the participating instructors to fully leverage the opportunities provided to strengthen their capacity and contribute meaningfully to the growth of Lagos as a smart economy.

The Director of the Agency, Mrs. Oluwakemi Kalesanwo, lauded TechnoServe for its invaluable partnership and expressed profound appreciation to the instructors for their active participation, dedication, and commitment throughout the training workshop. She further reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to sustaining such collaborations in order to enhance capacity building and drive sustainable educational and vocational development across Lagos State.

Also in attendance were senior officials of the Agency, including Mrs. Olaide Oladunjoye, Head of Vocational Department; Mr. Ibraheem Mustapha, Head of Monitoring and Investigation; Mrs. Christiana Hassan, Head, ASAS VTC; Mr. Adegoke Otaru, Public Relations Officer; Mrs. Faith Olawuni, Head, Agege VTC; Mr. Adeniyi Ologuntoye, Head of EMIS; Mrs. Sanni Nofisat, Head, Surulere VTC; and Mrs. Ashake Yetunde, Head, Odoragushi VTC.

TechnoServe was represented by Enterprise Development Advisors, Mrs. Omobola Akinola and Mrs. Oluwatosin Akinsanmi, as well as Mrs. Adebisi Momodu, Senior Enterprise Development Specialist.

The three-day workshop, held from 9th to 11th September 2025, was held at RVTC, Igbogbo.

Agency for Mass Education Sensitizes Imota LCDA Chairman on Non-Formal Education

The Management Team of the Agency for Mass Education has paid an advocacy visit to the Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA, aimed at sensitizing the newly sworn-in Chairman and his team on the Agency’s Non-Formal Education (NFE) programmes.

Leading the delegation, the Director of the Agency, Mrs. Oluwakemi Kalesanwo, highlighted the benefits of NFE, stressing the importance of literacy and vocational training to socio-economic development. She disclosed that the Agency plans to increase the number of functional Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) from the current eight (8) to fifteen (15) before the end of the year.

The Agency’s delegation included Mrs. Olaide Oladunjoye (HOD, Vocational), Mr. Ibraheem Mustapha (Head, Monitoring and Investigation), Mrs. Christiana Hassan (Head, ASAS VTC), Mr. Adegoke Otaru (PRO), Mrs. Faith Olawuni (Head, Agege VTC), Mr. Adeniyi Ologuntoye (Head, EMIS), and Mr. Azeez Mubidiu (Mass Literacy).

Receiving the team, the Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA, alongside Council Manager Mr. Ayeni Muyiwa, HOD Education Mrs. Giwa A.R, and several youth leaders, expressed appreciation for the visit. He pledged full collaboration with the Agency throughout his tenure to expand access to literacy and vocational training opportunities within the community.

*Lagos State Agency for Mass Education, TechnoServe Flag Off Training Workshop for Vocational Instructors*

The Lagos State Agency for Mass Education, in partnership with TechnoServe, has commenced a three-day “Train the Trainers” workshop on entrepreneurial and employability skills under the SAY-WEE Project. The training, which began today at the Rotary Vocational Training Centre, Igbogbo, will run from September 9 to 11, 2025.

The programme is designed to equip ninety instructors drawn from the Agency’s eight Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) with enhanced skills to better deliver entrepreneurship and employability training to learners across the State.

The opening ceremony had in attendance senior officials of the Agency, including Mrs. Oluwakemi Kalesanwo, Director of the Agency; Mrs. Olaide Oladunjoye, Head of Vocational Department; Mr. Ibraheem Mustapha, Head of Monitoring and Investigation; Mrs. Christiana Hassan, Head, ASAS VTC; Mr. Adegoke Otaru, Public Relations Officer; Mrs. Faith Olawuni, Head, Agege VTC; Mr. Adeniyi Ologuntoye, Head of EMIS; and Mr. Azeez Mubidiu, Mass Literacy Officer.

Representatives of TechnoServe present at the workshop included Omobola Akinola and Oluwatosin Akinsanmi, both Enterprise Development Advisors, as well as Adebisi Momodu, Senior Enterprise Development Specialist.
