And she said, “Yes, I was struggling too, until you taught it.” 😊
I was so excited watching my student balance about six chemical equations of different complexities. At some point, I thought to myself, “Nah, she may not get this one. It’s more complex than the others. It’s okay if she doesn’t, I’ll guide her and then give her a similar question to check her understanding.”
But when she finished and everything was correct, I started singing 🎼 “Stand up for the champion…” 😂
I told her, “You don’t know how excited I am seeing you solve these problems. Do you know many students at your level struggle with balancing chemical equations?”
And she said, “I did too, until you taught it.”
Me? 😊 See me blushing 😊

Everyone is ignorant of one thing at a time, but not one thing all the time. ✍️
This thought came to me while reflecting on a post I saw.
Ignorance is not an identity; it is a moment in the process of learning.
The worst thing is not ignorance—it is the lack of openness to learn.
As a teacher, I know this is true.
As a student, you should know this is true too. It keeps us humble and reminds us that we are always on a journey toward understanding.
I am Joy; I teach, I learn. ✍️

“There is Nothing a Student Cannot Understand”
This was my teaching philosophy when I started teaching, and it still drives me every single day. Over the years, as I continue in this career, my conviction has only grown stronger. The more I teach, the more reasons I find to shout from the rooftop: “There is nothing a student cannot understand.”
If we have the knowledge; if we use the right strategies; if we exercise patience; if we provide the right resources; and if we give learning the time it requires, we will achieve our goal.
And notice I say we. Not I the teacher alone, not you the student alone. Learning is a shared journey. I may design the best lesson and bring in the best strategy, but if you refuse to cooperate, the journey stalls. In the same way, if you are willing and open, and I give my best as your teacher, then together—we make learning possible.

Education is not filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire✍️❤
I have been reflecting on this for the past two days. This is the very essence of our calling.
Knowledge is progressive. You can never give a student everything. You can only light the fire and let the chain reaction begin.
Thank you teachers/educators for the spark you ignite daily

I have always said this to my students, little did I know it's also a proverb.
I tell them, if you ask questions in class, it's a sign you look into your books, an evidence that you are a student.
A student studies, a student learns.
Learning is born, amongst others, out of asking questions, out of curiosity.
The ability to ask questions is a strength not a weakness.

Smiling alone in my house🥰.
I do not take it for granted. I cherish the moments with them.
They may not understand how happy it makes teachers when their students are with them in the learning process. It's not when the teacher is just reading a presentation, and the students hearing it, not even sure if they are listening.
One of my students made a remark when I was taking them on one of the topics students generally frown at in Chemistry.
I was dissipating energy, using all the examples I can get, and he said, "ma, I like your teaching"🥰
It touched me😍.
Yeah, it's entering.💪
Then I knew, they are worth the preparation I put in. They are worth the energy, we dissipate trying to facilitate learning.
I failed to take screenshot. I would have loved to look at it again when I was ruminating over my encounter with them.
So, today, I decided to capture this one for memory sake✍️.
Let me capture this, for the rainy days. On that day, you will remember there were those you mattered to, and those you will matter to if you do not quit.
My students, I value you!✍️

From Zobo drink to 'Concentration' 💪
Teaching 'Concentration', I asked one of them to teach me how to make a tasty zobo drink (A drink made from hibiscus flowers/leaves).
She did.
I asked again, "If I follow J’s description, will I be able to make a drink which tastes exactly as J’s drink."
They said no.
“Why”, I asked.
One of them, said, “J did not tell you the quantity of water and other ingredients that should be dissolved in water.”
"Interesting! So, I may not be able to replicate the drink J made."
They said yes.
That’s why we discuss this topic. What J missed is 'Concentration.'
In Chemistry concentration is of utmost importance. Without it, a chemist may not be able to replicate an experiment to confirm the result of another chemist. So also, in manufacturing industries; Juice of the same brand would not taste the same, if concentration is ignored.
Do you agree?
“Yes ma’am!”, They echoed. 💪

Surprisingly, many have fidgeted at the sight of this kind of question,👇 only to discover it's just a common sense problem, if you look closely. Some things are not as complex as the they seem.

If only you do not forget your purpose; you will always rise up from the dust where the storm has thrown you.
May we always remember the reason we must live.
Merry Christmas from my team and I.
Thanks for trusting us.💪
