The Draft e-Examination Timetable has officially been released, and exams are expected to begin from 1st June, 2026.

Students are advised to carefully check their timetable because this is still a draft version and not the final timetable yet.

This is to inform all students of Lagos Mainland Study Centre 1 (LMSC1) who will be writing the e-examinations that the ongoing e-examination clearance exercise for the 2026_1 Semester will officially close on:

*21st May, 2026*

Students who have not completed their e-examination clearance are strongly advised to do so on or before the stated deadline.

Please note that the era of clearing students during examinations is OVER.

Failure to complete your clearance before the deadline may result in you NOT being allowed to write the examination.

*Path to a NOUN Graduation List
A Comprehensive Guide*

Graduating from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is a marathon, not a sprint. While the slogan is "Learn at Your Any Place, at Your Any Pace," many students find that "passing out" is a complex puzzle. To ensure your name appears on the next convocation list, you must master the administrative side of your studies as much as the academic.

Here is the essential checklist to move from "Student" to "Alumnus."

1. Master Your Credit Units (Core vs. Electives)
Don't just register for courses; register for the right ones.

The Balance: You must satisfy all Core Courses and a specific number of Electives.

The Trap: Registering for fewer units than required per semester lowers your cumulative total, even if your grades are high. Always cross-check your Registerable Courses Slip against the official Program Catalogue for your department.

2. The "Two Electives" Rule
One of the most common reasons for delayed graduation is missing elective credits.

The Standard: Aim for a minimum of two (2) elective courses per semester, not per session.

The Consequence: Registering only one elective often leaves you short of the total credit units required for your degree award, resulting in "Outstanding" status during final clearance.

3. Clear All Carryovers Immediately
A single uncleared "F" is a permanent roadblock.

Priority: Register and sit for your carryover courses before taking new ones.

The Psychological Toll: Pending carryovers drain your morale. Clear them early so you can focus on your final year project with a clean slate.

4. Monitor Your Results & TMAs
Your portal is your lifeblood. Ensure every course has:

TMA Scores: Validated and reflected.

Exam Grades: If a result is missing or "Incomplete," don't wait for a miracle. Report it to the Study Centre or, if necessary, re-register the course to save time.

5. Practical Requirements (SIWES, Seminars, & Practicums)
Academic degrees at NOUN aren't just about exams.

Missing a Seminar presentation, SIWES industrial training, or Teaching Practice (TP) is an automatic disqualification from the graduation list. These are non-negotiable requirements for the award of your certificate.

6. Financial Integrity (The E-Wallet)
NOUN does not allow "study now, pay later" at the point of graduation.

Zero Balance: Ensure your student portal wallet does not show a negative sign.

Documentation: Keep every Remita Receipt and registration slip. If there’s a discrepancy in your portal, these physical proofs are your only defense.

7. The "Name" Policy: Avoid the 4-Name Trap
NOUN is very strict about naming conventions on certificates to prevent identity fraud.

The Rule: Your name should ideally consist of three parts (First, Middle, Surname).

The Issue: Students with four names, initials/abbreviations, or spelling errors will have their certificates withheld.

Action: If your portal name is inconsistent with your O-Level or NIN, visit your Study Centre immediately for rectification before the convocation list is compiled.

8. Achieving the Minimum CGPA
Simply finishing the courses isn't enough; you must earn the degree.

Ensure your Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) meets the minimum threshold for graduation (usually 1.5 for older sets, but aim significantly higher for better prospects). If your CGPA is too low, you may need to repeat courses to boost your standing.

Tip for Finalists
Graduation lists are usually vetted months before the ceremony. If you notice an error in your "Final Clearance," don't wait for the next year. Visit your Study Centre Director or the ICT desk at the headquarters in Abuja if the issue persists.
