To me;

Historically, the teaching profession in Nigeria has been a "low status" occupation.

The "low status" image has persisted since the 19th Century.

But softened considerably in the past decade. During those "dark" days, the teacher was looked upon with mixed feelings of pity and respect.

Last decade, the state was known to be the most peaceful state in Nigeria and their education was quite alright.

As a result of Boko Haram crisis which led to vandalism in and out of the state, hundreds of schools were destroyed, thousands of students were captured and alot of teachers were kidnapped and killed.

Education in Borno state from 2009 to date seemed to be dead.

So, I will be there for two days with them.

Thanks all.
With Teachers we stand.

Is growing older.
I can see a light forth.
The teachers who are crying today,
Will soon smile.
The black paint is fading away, while the sun is shining.

I am not a poet, but on teachers, I can write thousands of poems. I have them at heart and I will work for their welfare.

Let government set teachers first!

*The short about T-first Movement of Nigeria*

T-first as the name implies, it means Teachers should be the first government and community should elevate.

T-first is a movement initiated to stand firmly by teachers, campaign for their impaired rights and to save them from being strangled.

It was established on May 4th, 2019. The movement is not affiliated to any political party or movement or to any religious organization or interest group. It is a think-tank devoted to analysis on how teachers are being strangled in this country Nigeria, and how to make them regain their dignity.

There are so many reasons that led to the creation of this moment;

Firstly, In Nigeria teaching profession is under siege. Because today, if you go to primary and secondary schools for example. Ask them "what do you want to be in future?" They'll be replying, I want to be a Doctor, Lawyer, Journalist, Politician et cetera. Barely to get two or three pupils or students in a class of forty-five students with the ambition to become teachers. I once tried it and I found it exactly. Frankly speaking, the negligence of government towards teaching profession begets this problem.

Secondly, Teaching profession is being strangled in this country. As it stated in the front page on the EFA global monitoring report by the director general of UNESCO, Irina Bokova. It says "Many governments have increased spending but few have patronized education in national budget... ", And it lead to the destruction of education.
In nutshell, Historically speaking from 1999. Nigeria's Budgetary allocation policy to education didn't reach 15-20% as recommended by the UNESCO. It usually falls in the range of 4-10%.

Thirdly, Now in Nigeria, schools are struggling to find enough teachers to cover growing enrollment. Critics say that the FG have ignored the problem for far long ago. Experts say that a cut back in funding for teachers have contributed to the problem. In Nigeria, such shortfall is already hitting har
