đ WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY: FRIDAY 10th OCTOBER, 2025.
World Mental Health Day is marked every year on October 10 to raise awareness about mental health around the world and to mobilize efforts to support those experiencing mental health issues.
This yearâs campaign focuses "On the urgent need to support the mental health and psychosocial needs of people affected by humanitarian emergencies".
Crises such as natural disasters, conflicts, and public health emergencies cause emotional distress, with one in five individuals experiencing a mental health condition. Supporting the mental well-being of individuals during such crises is not just important â it saves lives, gives people the strength to cope.
Thatâs why it is essential for everyone, including government officials, health and social care providers, school staff and community groups to come together. By working hand in hand, we can ensure the most vulnerable have access to the support they need while protecting the well-being of everyone.
There is a need to raise more awareness on Peace- building among our communities.
In Nigeria recently, community clashes such as the boko- haram insurgency, the recent crisis at Benue State, banditry & kidnappings and lot more has destabilized the mental health of lots of individuals.
There is a need to build guidance & counselling centres in our communities in order to create counselling sections to address issues that can lead to mental health problems.
"We are a nation that produces Guidance and Counselling graduates yearly but little to know public or government centres to harness their potentials".
Take care of your mental health by inculcating sustainable lifestyles such as avoiding stress, exercising at least twice weekly, avoiding bad discussions, taking morning walks.
Your mental health matters, take care of yourself.
