Government College Keffi

Government Collage Keffi (G.C.K) Queens Park. A park, named after queen Elizabeth on her visit to Government College keffi, Nassarawa state.
Was conceived from the early beginning of the school as one of the most enduring way of immortalizing Her Royal Majesty, The Queen of England and Head of the Commonwealth of Nations, Elizabeth II, to whom the colonial government in the country was then answerable.

Significantly enough, a rare species of palm trees were imported from England and planted in the heart of the park. The plant, which is characteristically of slim stem, rough and white bark, has b4 now grown to a height of over 40 metres b4 it falls, with its little palm canopy contending for space above with the surrounding heavier trees. The palm tree has thus remained in the park as a treasure.

Another monument of historical significance in G.C.K in that great old school is the tower just like the Big Ben in the city of London. Square in shape, the tower is built of solid concrete bricks and measures 50 feet high. No one can vividly recall the exact date when the ancient clock engraved on the tower’s summit stopped working. The clock which was cast in black metal and roman figure and embedded on a white platform, surrounded by red brick, and which used to notify the students to the school schedules, has remained a piece of beauty.

you had to shine everywhere you go
for you were either for Keffi or others
you had to be a primus inter pares.

At Keffi College,

crave for honour
that flows from knowledge’’
that remains in your memory
it fades not forever.

Our teachers were the best,
they were our parents and mentors
they were our shining knights
always urging us to crave
for honour rather than riches
we trembled before them.

Our motto,
“Nulla Deditio”
never give in
not to temptation
not to failure
not to anything at all.

Oh Keffi College,
through it all
and in it in all
your memories
shall ever be fresh
in the hearts of us all.

AGM : KOBA to raise N300m to develop Govt. College, Keffi.

Keffi Old Boys Association ( KOBA) the old boys of Government College, Keffi, Nasarawa State says arrangement has reached advanced stage by the national body to hold its Annual General Meeting AGM and Cheetah Awards Night to raise N300million aimed at giving the Premier Institution a lifeline.

Arch. Umar Sh*ttu, the Nasarawa State President of KOBA made this known during its State Chapter Congress meeting held in Lafia today Thursday.

He said that the N300milliom if raised was to provide infrastructure an enabling environment for teaching and learning as well as enhance quality education in the school.

" Our National AGM/ Cheetah Awards night is coming up by 24th, 25th and 26th February, 2022, the AGM will hold in Govt. College Keffi while the award night at Abuja"

" During the AGM/Cheetah Awards Nights, we will launch N300million for the development of the school.

"And Distinguished personalities, who have contributed positively to the development of the school will be given prestigious awards," he said.

Sh*ttu urged members of the association to continue to contribute to the development of their alma mater.

" I want to urge all of us to give no matter how small to the development of the school.

" Let's continue to give back to the school what the school has made us," he said

He called on their members and other personalities to support the association in order to ensure a successful AGM.

Besides, the state president of KOBA has commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for constructing the school road and other interventions aimed at improving on the standard of education in the school.

He has also hailed Mr Edward Adamu, the Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN) for his positive contributions in the area of infrastructural development among others in the school.

"We also commend the contributions of Arch Tukur as well as Hon John Osewu and Hon Mohammed Omadefu, members at the state legislature for being up and doing in ensuring the development of the school.

" We also want to appreciate other individuals and sets for their contributions to the development of the college, " he said.

Also speaking at the meeting, Hon John Osewu (APC- Doma South) Hon Mohammed Omadefu ( APC-Keana)members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon Muhammad Baba Shehu, Arch. Ahmed Sarki Usman, the Executive Chairmen of Keffi and Doma Local Government Areas who are members of KOBA have assured of their support to the school.

They have also called on members of the association to continue to contribute positively to the development of the school.

The National Secretary of KOBA Mr Sam Israel commended the State lawmakers and LG Chairmen and other members for taken their time to attend the meeting which he said witnessed large turn out of people and urged them to sustain the spirit.
