Kambarawa Academy Katsina Organises Capacity-Building Workshop for Staff on Phonics Book Authored by Its Director

Katsina, Nigeria — Kambarawa Academy Katsina has organised a special capacity-building workshop for its teaching staff on the newly introduced phonics book titled “Phonics for Early Learners – Introduction to Sounds”, authored by the School Director, Isah Rabe Kambarawa.

The workshop, held at the school premises, was designed to enhance teachers’ understanding of phonics and strengthen their ability to deliver effective early literacy instruction in the classroom.

In his opening remarks, the School Director, Isah Rabe Kambarawa, explained that the book was written to serve as a practical guide for early childhood educators in teaching pupils how to identify, pronounce, and blend sounds accurately — the foundational skills of reading and spelling.

He further emphasized that mastering phonics is essential for building strong literacy foundations among young learners, noting that teachers play a critical role in ensuring that pupils develop these skills with confidence and clarity.

Participants at the workshop expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as both enlightening and impactful, as it offered them hands-on techniques and classroom strategies for phonics instruction.

The session featured interactive demonstrations, group discussions, and practical exercises aimed at equipping teachers with modern, learner-centered approaches to teaching sounds.

Kambarawa Academy reaffirmed its commitment to continuous professional development of its staff and to maintaining high standards of literacy education in Katsina and beyond.

In a bid to improve quality in teaching and learning for both teachers and learners, Kambarawa Academy Katsina (KAK) has today organised a workshop for it's staff, both existing and newly recruitted teachers of the school.

The workshop centred on lesson plan and it's key component, other issues discussed also had to do with teachers' conduct at school, since teachers always serve as role models to the pupils/students.

The workshop was presided by the School Director, Isah Rabe Kambarawa, PhD (In-view), at the Durɓin Katsina Section (Secondary Section) of the school.

Second sitting of the workshop will take place on Monday, 8th September, 2025, if Allah spares our lives, as tomorrow will be a public holiday marking 1447 Maulud.

Applicants who can teach at the Primary, Nursery and Secondary sections can submit their applications at the school premises between 9:00 to 12:00 daily.
