Tomorrow, Wednesday 23rd October 2024, three SHICK girls at the North West Regional Stage of the *Nig. Girls in ICT Competition* will present their virtual pitch at Lumilab Hub to national observers. Therefore, the students have a Google Meet online rehearsal tonight:

▪︎Words of the week were *"habitat"* & *"poaching"* in reference to UN World Habitat Day. 🕸️🐳🐘🦚🪵🌿

▪︎ Three Silicon Girls *Asiya Shamsudeen, Fatima Lawal Safana & Fatima Dalhat* made it to Lumilab Tech Hub Kt. for preparation for the regional phase of the Nig. Girls in ICT Competition. 👩‍💻👩‍💻👩‍💻

▪︎The Principal had a follow-up G & C session with all students to highlight the incredible weekly efforts of certain students which should serve as motivation for others since everyone has 24hrs to be incredible.👨‍🏫

▪︎ Thursdays skills classes included computer graphics patterns lesson. 🏗️

▪︎Football Match between Teachers versus Students took place, with the students triumphing ⚽ 🫣

▪︎The catering skills students produced meat steak & potato delicacy.🍔🥘

▪︎Friday weekly subjects review tests were conducted.✏️🗓️

▪︎ On Friday, the STEM Club presented on World Habibat & Poaching and they cleaned the college outer environs as their theme ⛰️.

▪︎Students of the week: *Abdullahi & Nuradeen Lawal Safana,* for their motivating participation in the STEM Habibat programme.

▪︎Assembly words of the week 5 were *"independence"* & *"culture"* in reference to Nigeria's Independence Celebration & World Culture Week. 🇳🇬, 💚

▪︎SS3 Extension Classes continued with WAEC/NECO past questions treatment.📊

▪︎Thursdays Skills Class saw the interior decor students produce a spoon-inspired wall design. 🎁

▪︎Thursday Skills Classes had the Computer Graphics Design Students learning how to move from one design to another🌅

▪︎Students took the usual end-of-the-weeek topics review test across subjects helping them to track what was taught from Monday to Thursday. ✏️🗓️

▪︎Friday Biology Students presented awareness on Food Loss & Wastage 🍲🥘

▪︎The Press Club Students had a talkshow on Nigeria's Independence history 🎞️📺

▪︎Inter-Class science quiz was conducted from JSS1 to SS3. 📊

▪︎The College Girls ICT Team qualified for the second stage of the Nig. Nat. Girls in ICT competition 🤹‍♀️ 💫👏

Last year, our ICT solution submission didn't scale the first stage, but this year, our ICT solution submission has been vetted & passed to the second stage & we are now representing Katisna for the regional stage.

Indeed, the fruits of our Friday STEM presentations, assembly presentations and science round table talks are blossoming!!!

*SHICK: _Week 4 Activities Recap for the Secondary Section_*

▪︎Assembly word of week 4 was *"awareness"* given in reference to UN Int'l Day for the Awareness on Food Shortages & Losses.

▪︎The SS3 WAEC/NECO 2PM - 4PM extension classes continued with 2021 & 2022 WAEC Past Questions Solved.

▪︎ During Thursdays Craft Skills Subject, the female students made a "nursing mother baby bag".

▪︎ During Same Craft Thursday classes, the Computer Hardware & Installation students coupled up a desktop C.P.U and the screen of a laptop computer.

▪︎Also, at the same Thursday Craft Skills Subject class, the Computer Graphics Design students made templates for flyer designs.

▪︎ On Friday, the Press Club organized an inter-class debate on *"Would Gender Equality in Government Echelon Improve Nigeria's Economy?"*

▪︎The STEM Club had inter-class science quiz across all six classes on Maths, Basic Tech, Basic Sci., Physics, Chemistry & Biology.

▪︎Students' Round Table Talk on *" Will AI take over our Parents' Jobs?"* was held.

▪︎ Weekly Subject Review Tests across classes were given to students to help them keep track of what was learnt from Monday to Thursday.

▪︎Orientation Programme for the Fresh pupils & students was conducted.

▪︎ SHICK and its Principal (Mr. Taofeek Fowotade) were invited as the only private school in Katsina alongside other facilitators from HUK Poly & some Kt. state offices, to anchor a session at the Read Right Society/Fatima Dikko Radda Sponsored Creative Writing 2.0 Seminar for Aspiring Female Writers in Katsina.

▪︎ Students of the week are *Abdrahman & Abdrahim Hamza (SS2 Science)* for their impressive science round table talks.

▪︎ Assembly word of the week was *"literacy"* which is in reference to international literacy week.

▪︎As promised, the first batch of students have begun receiving their full term soft copy notes on their laptops.

▪︎Thursdays skills subjects witnessed JSS1 to 3 producing a waste-to-wealth multicolor card wall design using disposed materials.

▪︎Yearly retraining of teachers for SHICK teachers took place focusing on modern methods, special needs curriculum and classroom management.

▪︎The SS3 class was given a tour of the under-construction WAEC/NECO hall in the college.

▪︎From each class, students took the stage for the Friday assembly presentations on critical topics.

▪︎The student of the week was SS2 Hafsat Mustapha Sani for engaging the most in all stage presentations.

Our first term 2024/2025 Secondary Section term planner again reflects much more than academics only. It specifies our weekly computer and craft skills subjects such as computer hardware & installation, computer graphics, computer web design, interior decor, catering, bags and shoes making and more. It also reflects our weekly extracurricular activities done via our clubs & societies which are STEM, Press Club, Creative Arts Club, Climate Activists & Integrity Club. In fact, we gave time to sports & SDGs as a means of fun for our students!.
