Professor Yusuf Muhammad Adamu, Professor of Medical Geography from the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences today, Thursday, 24th September, 2026 presented the 63rd Professorial Inaugural Lecture titled: Putting Heath and Disease in Place: My Story and Legacy.

He said his legacy wasn't only the maps produced but the mapmakers trained; not only the knowledge generated but the generation of researchers inspired.
He ended up with the following quotation
I want to conclude by arguing that the fight against disease is yet to be won, but we are now better equipped to locate it, understand it, and combat it.

BUK VC, Prof Haruna Musa Pays Courtesy Visit to NMDPRA Chief Executive

The Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Professor Haruna Musa, paid a courtesy visit to the Authority Chief Executive (ACE) of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Mallam Rabiu A. Umar, at the Authority's headquarters.

The visit served as a platform to strengthen the longstanding relationship between Bayero University and the Authority while exploring opportunities for strategic collaboration in research, innovation, capacity building and human capital development.

Receiving the Vice-Chancellor and his delegation, Mallam Rabiu A. Umar, a distinguished alumnus of Bayero University, expressed delight over the visit and reaffirmed his enduring commitment to supporting his alma mater. He commended the University's contributions to producing highly skilled graduates who continue to make meaningful impacts across various sectors of the Nigerian economy.

Discussions during the meeting focused on enhancing partnerships between academia and the petroleum industry, with particular emphasis on advancing research, innovation, professional training and knowledge exchange to support Nigeria's evolving energy landscape.

Professor Haruna Musa congratulated Mallam Umar on his appointment and exemplary leadership of the Authority, describing his achievements as a source of pride to the Bayero University community. He also appreciated the Authority Chief Executive's contributions to the growth of Nigeria's petroleum industry and national development.

The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed Bayero University's commitment to fostering productive partnerships with key stakeholders in government and industry to drive research excellence, innovation and sustainable national development.

The Management of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) wishes to draw the attention of the general public, staff, students, and stakeholders to the existence of a fraudulent Facebook account impersonating the person and office of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Haruna Musa, fsi.

The perpetrator(s) operating this fake account falsely present themselves as the Vice-Chancellor and instruct unsuspecting individuals to initiate private communications via WhatsApp using the phone number 09128675732 and several other numbers..

Please Note That:
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Haruna Musa, has NOT authorized, created, or consented to the operation of any such Facebook account or WhatsApp contact.

The University has not authorized any individual or group to solicit money, offer employment, grant admissions, or conduct official business through personal social media accounts or private WhatsApp lines.

Formal Action Taken:
The University Management has formally reported this matter to concerned law enforcement agencies for immediate investigation and prosecution of the culprits involved.

Members of the public are strongly advised to exercise caution and refrain from engaging, transacting, or communicating with the holders of the aforementioned Facebook account and WhatsApp number. Bayero University, Kano will not be held liable for any financial losses or damages incurred as a result of dealings with these fraudsters.
