The Northern Quagmire :Ba Hausa(No Hausa)🫥
When a southern or Eastern man say to you: 'Ba Hausa' meaning he or she doesn't speak Hausa, figuratively. I always find it amusing.

What I am about to talk about is not amusing to say the most.

When we talk about Hausa, in most situations, people assume Muslims. While the vast majority are indeed Muslims.

A Yoruba colleague of mine once told me how his elder brother named his son Umar Farouk and the Yoruba 'demons' present enquired why he has given his son a Hausa name.

This misconception has eating deep down thus anyone with a Muslim name if not Razaki, wasiu etc is a Hausa.

Without doubt most Hausa's are culturally inclined; from their food down to their attires and also In there quest for the Islamic Knowledge.

In my observation, the reputation of the Hausa man as an intelligent, a hardworking, trustworthy and dedicated person is at lowest ebb and hitting rock bottom.

In my objective observation and in my 'own' opinion supported by verifiable evidence I think some bad eggs(Hausas) are trying to damage the Good reputation of the native Hausa speaker.

Let me give you a reason for my assertion. It is now a popular perception that; an average Hausa man has very poor attitude to work.
Here is an analogy to support my claim:
I received a call from a friend who is now a principal in a school: " please I need a chemistry, physics or mathematics teacher. If you know of anyone please send him or her to me."

That was not all...

" but not Hausa! " he added.

I was taken aback but I decided to enquire as to the 'Why'? He was precise and concise in his reply: " They have negative work attitude ".

I was dumbstruck by his statement. I neither proposed nor did I opposed his declaration. However, I critically decided to make an indept evaluation of his postulation.

I used 3 Qualities of a person with positive work attitude to judge them and I also want you to also do the mathematics and give us the Statistics:
1. punctuality
2. Regularity
3. Respect for constituted authority

Take your time to get your facts right. For punctuality, observe if a Hausa man keeps to time; for regularity; how often does he or she seek permissions to be absent for one event or the other . And for discipline; does he or she respect rules and regulations inherent in the organization?
Do the maths.

Well, after my critical evaluation, I had a cold feet. Indeed, the attitude doesn't call for optimism.

Again, I observed keenly, even the Hausas' don't like working with Hausawa even when to the Yoruba man it means 'Hausa come' abi wetin be 'Hausa wa' ?.
In most organisation owned and managed by a Hausa man, it is mostly headed by a 'tribal' man. Hmm, when we say tribal, it is kind of funny, as if Hausa is not a tribe. I know you understand what I mean.

Some years back, I went job hurting after doing excellently in both the aptitude and attitude test. I was invited to meet the manager who doubled as the proprietor for discussion on wage and other benefits.

The manager is a Hausa man with sound command of the English Language. He said to me: ' I like your energy and vision. You seem to carry substance. I know we will benefit from you.'

I felt his flattery was meant to massage my ego, in order to prevent me from fighting back during negotiations.
I thanked him for the kind words any ways, while he went through my CV.
Abdul Mohammed. Are you Hausa?? I smiled. Here is a Hausa man, asking if I am Hausa, what better way to hit the jackpot than to affirm his suspicion? 'Yes sir!' I said with confidence.

His face glowed with disappointment, however, I was so sucked up in my assumption to envision the reality.

He told me, I have lost the job politely: "we will get back to you." I never heard from them since then.

I later learnt from a friend who connected me with the organization, that, I messed up for saying ' I am Hausa.' He doesn't employ Hausa people. Hausa stigmatizing Hausa? This Dog eat dog relationship isn't funny even for the bunny on a sunny.

This is a serious matter which we are neglecting. Do you know a Hausa man with positive work attitude, brings to question the authenticity of his ethnicity just by being dogmatic??

Here is another assignment, when you have the time. Take note: if you are working for a Hausa man or know someone working for one, to give you a statistic: If the head is not the proprietor's relative;what tribe is heading the company?

I couldn't help but to imagine: could it be, the North are able to accommodate the Southerners and Easterners because they have better work attitude than the children of the soil? And we find it hard to fit in, outside our comfort Arena because of our negative work attitude.

I know of a school own by a Hausa man, if you want to be disqualified, write on your CV: 'English and Hausa fluent'. And to be hired just say "ba Hausa" vernacular speaking is highly prohibited indeed.

In politics, the Northerners will give you a run for your money. But when they get into power, most of them run with the money.
Are we ignorant of the sin of our actions or oblivion of the repercussions?

This post is a wakeup call, to me and other 'Northerners' to inculcate positive work attitude so that the labour of our Heroes past, in building a solid reputation doesn't go in vain. Imbibing poor work attitude will have a negative ripple effects on anyone with the name 'Abdul, Sani, Ado, Ahmad or Mohammed' or even our generation to come.

Until we are able to change our attitude to work, opportunities will not only elude us but it will become a stigma for the coming generation..

This attitude is relative and does not suggest all Hausa's have poor attitude to work. But as the Hausa adage says: If the beard of your neighbour is on fire, if you're wise, you will quickly rub yours water.

Plea: Dear society, don't judge a book by it cover. Don't auction the tension caused by a faction because of the action of a section. Hire Abdul, if he doesn't fit, Fire!

The truth is Godly, he who will, should accept it and he, who will, should reject it.🦅✍🏾

The Bad Project🫥
Here is a simile to postulate my presumption. I have had this in mind for sometime now.

It is about the bad guy project, that we budget in our project. It is not that I reject it in entirety; but I think there's a need for us to protect the good guy with all alacrity.

Here is my analogy.

In my elementary days, among the students, we had the good, the bad and the outright 'ugly' students.

The good: Sound in character, loud in morals and the extremely wonderful in academics. They are gurus, the heroes who never had zeroes.

The bad: Average in character, average in morals and average in academics. They ain't gurus but they are nothing like the zeros, they hope to be like the Heroes.

Outright ugly: poor morals, lousy in character and foolish in academics. They are the zeros who don't care about being heroes.

The head teacher's office is like the purple cow, you don't get to grace except you want to be disgrace in most case.

Do you know how we got to know what the head teacher's office looks like? From the Gurus,?not really. From the Uglies! The uglies kept visiting the office day in- day out. It was like a correctional facility for those guys. To rehabilitate them, some times, they are given minerals. They tell us about it and we couldn't help but fantasize being there.

One day we decided to see for ourselves. The only way to see Head teacher for example is to be involved in one fight or the other, disrespect a teacher, destroy the school property or engage in an immoral act or be consistent with your zeroes without progress.

One day me and my friend decided to fight just to be sent to her office, unfortunately for us, the teachers handle the case, we were suspended. When we returned she asked for us and gave us a stern warning thus it wasn't all bad. We got what we wanted in school but not at HOME.

Are you almost there or you are still confused.

Let me share a contemporary issue with you:
I heard that in a state in Nigeria, some terrorist guilty of destroying Lives and properties were granted amnesty, jobs and all expense paid to Saudi Arabia for the lesser hajj after having a closed door meeting with the Governor in the state house after eating beef without beef when they took a new leaf.

I can guarantee you, I am almost 80% sure that, most of the terrorist that were granted audience, invited to the state house and sent on pilgrimage would never have been given the opportunity to meet the Governor in person or even come close to the state house.
Is my point getting clearer?

My Question is?
Are we doing enough for the good guys? Are the good guys not taken for granted?

Get me right. I know our implied actions show we appreciate the good guys, but do we give them as much attention for making our work easier than as we give to the bad guys for making our task more difficult?

Are the good guys unappreciated and taken for granted? Doing evil is easy, true strength is in goodness.

The first position is called out on the Assembly ground, given a notebook, a jotter. A book to read more, just to offend those who never wanted a book in the first place. Will that make a difference?

Imagine gifting a Biology teacher 'Ababio' as a reward for an outstanding performance. Or gifting man of God, holy book during hardship(Material things are not ungodly attires)

Here is what will make a difference:
We need to pay attention to the good guys before they become bad.
Some of the bad guys were good guys neglected.

Example in schools:
All students sound in morals and academics should be invited by the school administrator as a sign of gratitude for their fruitful effort in the institution. Wouldn't the school proprietor shaking the hands of the best 3 students in each class publicly on the Assembly ground be an unprecedented gesture? Children love public praise, tested and trusted.

Only the jacks that WORK should be allowed to PLAY. Thus, most extracurricular activities should pioneered by the 'bookworms'.

They love class party. only those students who do well should be invited for the party. Ain't that reasonable? Just my opinion though.

You can't be last position and be dancing more than the 'bride'. Take the good guys out for picnic, let them reap the dividend for the effort they sowed.

Imagine on a day for excursion, only those intelligent students are selected for the occasion. Chai....😂

Instead of inviting the bad guys more often, the good guys need more rehabilitation than the bad( argument for another day) because when the good heart turns bad, it does bad things in an excellent way.

Some of the recommendations here are contentious and a little functionally outrageous. However, we can't complain without being intentional in our effort to make a difference.

If we reminisce about 'back in the days' against nowadays. Why not try using the 'back to see front'. Oh, I forgot. Things have changed. Children of nowadays are far more notorious than the parent of nowadays.

We cannot allow bad parents blame us for the education they fail to give their children at home and give us policy direction against a solid foundation built on a mountain, structured on a fountain of greatness.

Let's make a budget for the 'Good' project!✍🏽🦅

(Friday)The man who wanted🫥
Whenever, I am going to work there's a beggar positioned at a junction. The man always send salutation to me. Sometimes, when I have the intention and *wanted to* give him something, it is either I didn't't have to spare or I didn't have change.
One faithful Friday, I decided to get change in order to give to the beggar when I get to the junction.

Guess what happened. When I got to the junction and *wanted to* to give the beggar something instead of sending salutation to me as usual, he didn't.
Well, I thought to myself with the help of the devil whom didn't want me to honour a good act " if you won't greet me, I will hold on to my money" and I did.

As I was going, I was filled with guilty conscience. And in my remorse I was quick to recall when a friend told me that " his boss refused to give them Ramadan welfare package because he was challenged during meeting" that was after I told him about the kind gesture of my boss in my own place of work.

I and other sympathizers present condemned the action and castigated the boss insecurity. We went as far as saying he was doing it to be praise and chasing clout and not for God sake.

We didn't know the boss and his reasons thus we could be wrong with our assertion. The only thing we said which was and is true until today is that, he has missed out on the reward that his kindness would've fetched him.

If a pr******te was granted paradise for giving a dog water to drink. What about an act of kindness from a believer?

Mine was my ego that was smashed, for his boss, it could be his feeling of self esteem that was taken away from him.

Have you ever felt like doing a good deed and you refused because of the action of someone? If yes, congratulations! You are not alone. You are a victim of the devil.
We were told, the devil is an avowed enemy thus he is closer to us than our own soul to fulfil his promise of deviating good to bad; right to wrong, kindness to evil.

A good act, is meant to cleanse your own soul and correct your wrong doings. It is for you and not others. Just like you didn't stop eating because of what the person has said. Don't stop a good act, because of the action of a faction or be a slave of other people's action. Because a man who spell GLASS without G while forgetting L is only what is left.

As if that was not enough for a witness for my misdeed. When I got to the mosque, the cleric who pastored the Congregational prayer ended his sermons when I arrived with a quote as if it was a conspiracy between the cleric and the beggar. The quote:
*An evil person punish good people because of the actions of bad people.*
*A good person rewards bad people because of the actions of good people.*
In one of the above, the devil finds silver linings and in the other, the mercy and favour of God is apparent.✍🏽🦅

Modicum of a kind act🫥
So I heard of a very disturbing scenario, where a 9 and 6 year old girl and boy on school uniform going from one shop to another asking for change.
They went to a man selling vegetable and asked for change of 200 Naira from him. The man enquire from them what they bought from him and when?
The girl gave a break down of the amount correctly, however, it was the 'when' that alarmed the vegetable vendor. She said "yesterday".

Unfortunately for her, but fortunately for the man; he had been out of town for a week. His son was the one who maned the shop. He told them and she said, 'oh yes, it was another person who sold it to us.'

The man sensing dishonesty, told them he will not give them the change until his son returns in the evening thus they should endeavor to come back.

They left under the keen watch of the man who sensed foul play, unknown to them. They moved some distance and went to another shop selling sachet water and related the same thing they told the vegetable seller.
While they were arguing, the vegetable seller decided to go over to ascertain the bone of contention. To his bewilderment, it was the same antics earlier. They ran away when they saw him.

Children will be children.

Instead of going back home and declaring a bad market. They went to another shop close to where they tried to cheat the vegetable seller and the sachet water vendor.
This time, they were caught and almost flogged if not for the timely intervention of a Samaritan.

This little kids were unrepentant and insisted on their change. Even when they were caught. Regardless of the threat and interrogation put forward by those present, they remain adamant; refusing to call name(s) of the antagonist perverting this evil act.

It was assumed the children are unqualified to come up with this unsanctified act.
Is this hunger or bad parenting?

As if that was all. As I was about to wheel forward, I heard another blockbuster.
A young man went to the burial ground and removed the metals used to inscribe the names of the deceased; planning to go and sell it. He was caught unguarded by the grave guard when he was about to move out of the burial ground.
When he was interrogated, he confessed his crime. However, he blamed 'hunger' for his sacrilegious act.

If you ask me, 'wetin the dead want do with metal?' Is his action justified? Not at all. Should he be excused? Only if It is my grave.

Yes, shame on me for thinking it is better to steal from me when I am dead than to do it when I am alive. In the former, I will feel no pain neither do I need it, in the later, you won't want to know how I felt when my phone was stolen some weeks back along bata.

Don't get me wrong, stealing is wrong and there's no justification for it. However, if I have to choose between two wrongs, I will choose the former. Even though two blacks don't add up to white.

While the leaders are buying private jets and enriching their bank accounts with the state treasury. The masses are dying of hunger. And when we talk about hunger, we talk about it conventionally as if it is a news flash. It is not the hunger as usual, it is hunger pro-max!

Is there a better time for our leaders or anyone with the capacity to make heaven than now?
An act of kindness in the times of need is worth manifold. The world is sick and in urgent need of treatment✍🏽🦅

ToothPaste🫥
Toothpaste are mostly in tube like containers. It is mostly a "detergent' for your tooth effectively achieved with a toothbrush. Tooth paste come in various form and shape relative to your preferences. That's all about toothpaste thank you.🤓

At first when I heard the Kano state Governor made a statement saying: Files relating to the alleged 'GanduDollar' saga against his predecessor are no where to be found,I took it for rumor and a form of comic relief.

However, to my 'mamaki' I heard on air coming from his vocal cavity. Just like MacLean, I cleaned my ear to be sure I heard him right. If this was Colgate, I would have said he just wanted to do 'yanga' with his utterances. However, instead of the Governor to Close up and demand immediate and thorough investigation in respect to the mishap then give a feedback afterwards.
Instead of using Oral B, to Be careful with his speech; Na'hee, He came out, without using Oral care to take care to make a painful declaration and accusation against the Ex Governor.

If I were in the Governor's shoes, I would've suspended my aid if he had made such blunder. But to shoot himself on the foot just to malign his political rival with such mediocre statement is laughable and outright disgraceful.

I echo the rebuttal by the APC chairman, this only shows the sorry state of security and the moribund condition of the judicial system in Kano state. Maybe, just maybe there's no evidence against the ex Governor thus as far as I am concern; No evidence, No crime. Period!

An injured snake may poison itself to the grave if it maintains it nomenclature.

The Farmer who listened to Radio🫥
There once lived a farmer who quarrelled with his tools because of the news he heard from the radio.
The Farmer blessed with large hectares of land had many tools each relative to the task it was meant to perform.
Among his tools were:
Cart: Two(2) donkeys with carriage. Their function is to carry the farmer and his tools to and fro the farmer.
The cutlass: The sharp cutter. Used for cutting down tall trees and high bushes.
The hoe: Highly effective when cutting down grasses that are down to earth.
Lamp: Helps to light the part when it gets dark.
Radio: A highly trusted companion. While other tools were working with their body, the radio kept working with it mouth.

One faithful day, the farmer who was listening to the radio heard of a disturbing scenario. Indeed, the radio informed the farmer his tools are working against him.

It is the nomenclature of the radio to transmit different information when tuned to different frequency frequently.

The farmer was alarmed thus, took the information from the radio personally thus, fought with his tools.
He called the donkeys lazy, the cutlasses blunt, the hoes slow and the lamp dim.

The tools were perturbed by the sudden change of attitude by the farmer. The farmer kept his distance from his tools while his crops were being damaged by weeds.

The farmer kept working hard but his yield did not commensurate his efforts. He became frustrated and depressed. In his frustration, he asked his friend who was doing well and yielding much.

His friend, having observed the farmer and his attitude towards his tools said: "A farmer who fights with his tools by listening to the radio can not be right. Only an incompetent farmer fights with his tools.
To get the best out of your crops, there's should be synergy between you and your tools."

When the farmer and the tools fight, it is the crops that suffers.✍🏽🦅

Friday🫥
OK so, today is Friday. I know you don't need a reminder but deal with it, I am reminding you.

Well, my motivation to write this morning came from an event that occurred in the early hour of today.

A parent was punishing his children for not attending the dawn prayer. While a child who was being punished was pleading with his Dad to forgive him. The father responded: " I don't want you to seek forgiveness, I want you to repent"

When I heard this answer from the man, I couldn't help but take note of the words in between the line "forgiveness" and "Repentance".

Well, in my little research, forgiveness according to my phone dictionary is to 'pardon' a person for a misdeed or to seek for mercy from a more superior being.
While repentance is the feeling of regret, remorse for a wrong deed.

I know you know this, by the way. Again, I am still reminding you. 'Kwam' and beat me🤓

Well, my little inspiration from this declaration is that I am now more motivated to seek repentance than forgiveness; while I asked for both.

A little note from me to us:
Repentance is the only true channel to seek forgiveness. As humans, we are sinners, we sin everyday variably or invariably; knowingly or unknowingly thus, it is pertinent to seek forgiveness. Forgiveness for the unknown while for the known we repent! There are things that are beyond our control? Ehen? So you can do it, but it is beyond your control abi? Kwantinue...😏

An alcoholic who drinks daily and seek forgiveness (mercy) daily is only telling God subconsciously, 'I will do it again tomorrow, I need you to understand me when I do'.

The day the alcoholic says: Dear God, I have taken a new leaf and now 'born again'. He is telling God, I will never drink alcohol again. Thus, he is seeking forgiveness by Repentance.

Everyday, I hear people asking God for forgiveness in order to change their current situation from bad to good while we 'keep on' with our conventional way of living.
Is it not time for us to be more forward thinking and try repentance ? True forgiveness = Repentance

Let's take it as a personal commitment to look within us to analyse and evaluate our sins and promise God to repent from them and see if our economic situation doesn't change.

Motivation 101: If only all sinners will repent, a bag of rice would be 80 naira per bag. Are you motivated🙃

Are you a sinner? R E P E N T!✍🏽🦅
