MY WEDDING NIGHT Episode 2
Finally, our wedding day arrived. It was a beautiful ceremony filled with love, laughter, and the presence of God. As I walked down the aisle, my heart was filled with joy and hope. I was ready to embark on this new journey with Michael, the man I believed God had blessed me with.
The reception was a blur of happiness, a celebration of our union. Family and friends surrounded us, and the air was filled with music and laughter. I couldn't have been happier. As the night came to a close, we retired to our hotel room, ready to start our life together.
That’s when everything changed.
As soon as the door closed behind us, Michael’s demeanor shifted. He pulled out a bottle of liquor from his bag and took a long swig. I was shocked. This was not the Michael I knew. He had always been so careful about his appearance and behavior, especially around alcohol.
“Michael, what are you doing?” I asked, my voice trembling.
He laughed, a sound that sent chills down my spine. “Relax, Precious. It’s just a drink.”
I stood there, frozen, as he continued drinking. The man I had prayed with, the man who had spoken so passionately about serving God, was now unrecognizable. My heart shattered as I watched him transform before my eyes.
The night only got worse. Michael, now visibly drunk, started acting aggressively. He revealed a stash of drugs hidden in his bag and began using them. I was horrified. How had I missed this? How had the man I thought I knew so well been hiding such a dark secret?
Tears streamed down my face as I confronted him. “Michael, why? Why didn’t you tell me?”
He looked at me with hollow eyes, the man I loved now a stranger. “You wouldn’t have understood. I needed an escape.”
An escape. The words echoed in my mind. All those times he had seemed distant, all those missed prayer meetings it all made sense now. Michael had been struggling, and I had been blind to it.
That night, as he lay passed out, I cried out to God. I felt betrayed, confused, and heartbroken. How could this be happening? I had prayed so fervently for our future, for our marriage. Now, on our wedding night, I was faced with a reality I never could have imagined.
In the days that followed, I sought counsel from our church leaders. They supported me, offering prayers and guidance. Michael entered a rehabilitation program, and I prayed for his recovery every day. It was a long and painful journey, but I held onto my faith, trusting that God had a plan, even in the midst of this trial.
My wedding night was not the fairytale I had imagined. It was a night of harsh reality, of facing the hidden darkness in someone I loved deeply. But it was also a night that strengthened my faith and my resolve. I learned that even in the most unexpected and painful moments, God is with us, guiding us through.
Michael’s journey to recovery was difficult, and our marriage faced many challenges. But through it all, I never stopped praying, never stopped believing in the power of God’s love to heal and restore. And in time, Michael found his way back to the man I had fallen in love with, the man who loved God and wanted to serve Him.
Our story is not perfect, but it is a testimony to the power of faith, love, and redemption. And it all began on a night that I will never forget my wedding night.
