GREENWORSHIP DAY CONTINUES......

The 2026 GreenKajuru Afforestation Project of the Foresight Agricultural and Climate Action Network (FACAN) continues to take environmental stewardship from the pulpit to practical action through GreenWorship Day (GreenSunday and GreenFriday).

Yesterday, Sunday 23rd August, 2026, Hosanna Baptist Church, Dutsen Gaya and Aminci Baptist Church, Fadama Kororo, Kufana, Kajuru LGA, Kaduna State, joined the GreenWorship movement by OBSERVING their GreenWorship Day through awareness campaign and tree-planting activities.

Both churches embraced the message of environmental stewardship and committed to nurturing and protecting the trees planted within their communities.

This is more than tree planting, it is about building a culture where faith inspires environmental action and every worshipping community becomes a centre of restoration and hope.

Let’s Green Our Worship. Let’s Heal Our Earth.

SECOND EDITION OF GREENWORSHIP DAY FIELD WORK.

The 2026 GreenKajuru Afforestation Project of the Foresight Agricultural and Climate Action Network (FACAN) continues to inspire environmental action through faith communities under the theme:
GREENWORSHIP DAY (GreenSunday and GreenFriday).

On Sunday, 16 August, 2026, FACAN took the initiative to Baptist Church Ungwan Rana, Kufana and Assembly of God Church Bajaga, Kufana, Kajuru LGA, Kaduna State

Both churches observed their GreenWorship Day through awareness campaign and trees planting activities (oil palm seedlings and cashew seedlings respectively)

The two churches planted tree seedlings within their premises and committed to nurturing and protecting them as a symbol of environmental responsibility and faith in action.

GreenWorship Day goes beyond putting seedlings into the ground, is a call to make environmental stewardship part of our worship, encouraging churches, mosques and communities to embrace tree planting, conservation and climate resilience.

FACAN is working to inspire a new understanding of worship, one in which caring for God's creation becomes an integral part of community life.

The church(es) leadership expressed their readiness to take responsibility for the protection, nurturing and long-term management of the trees, while appreciating FACAN for the intervention and describing it as timely and relevant to the environmental challenges facing our communities.

Let’s Green Our Worship. Let’s Heal Our Earth.
Together, let's leave a Legacy of Green Faith.

David Samuel
Executive Director, FACAN

THE 2026 GREENKAJURU AFFORESTATION PROJECT KICKS OFF!

The Foresight Agricultural and Climate Action Network (FACAN) has officially commenced the field implementation of the 2026 GreenKajuru Afforestation Project, under the inspiring theme:
GREENWORSHIP DAY.
(GreenSunday and GreenFriday.

On Sunday, 9 August, 2026, FACAN commenced the first field activities of the project with interventions at St. Luke Catholic Church, Kasuwan Magani, and ECWA Goodnews Church, Tudun Mare Kufana (Maraban Kajuru), Kajuru LGA, Kaduna state respectively.

TREES PLANTING LEGACY AT ST. LUKE CATHOLIC CHURCH, KASUWAN MAGANI.
The activity coincided with the farewell programme for the outgoing Parish Priest and Seminarian.
As part of the GreenWorship Day initiative, the outgoing priest and seminarian joined the FACAN team in a practical demonstration of tree planting within the church premises.

A number of oil palm and cashew seedlings were planted around the parish. In a special and memorable gesture of appreciation and remembrance, the newly planted palm trees were named “Fr. Reuben's Palm Trees” after the outgoing Parish Priest, creating a lasting green legacy in his honour.

What began as a simple tree-planting exercise has therefore become a living legacy, trees that will continue to grow long after the farewell ceremony is remembered.

ECWA GOODNEWS CHURCH, TUDUN MARE JOINS THE GREEN MOVEMENT.
The GreenWorship initiative was also implemented at ECWA Goodnews Church, where oil palm and cashew seedlings were planted within the church environment.

The churches leadership expressed their readiness to take responsibility for the protection, nurturing and long-term management of the trees, while appreciating FACAN for the intervention and describing it as timely and relevant to the environmental challenges facing our communities.

THE MESSAGE BEHIND GREENWORSHIP DAY.
GreenWorship Day is not simply about planting trees; it is about building a culture of environmental stewardship through faith and worship.

The core objective of the sensitization is to encourage believers to make tree planting a lifestyle, just as they cultivate ordinary food and cash crops.

FROM THE PULPIT TO THE PLANET.
GreenWorship Day goes beyond putting seedlings into the ground.
FACAN is working to inspire a new understanding of worship, one in which caring for God's creation becomes an integral part of community life.

Through this initiative, FACAN seeks to:
1. Encourage believers to embrace tree planting as a regular practice.
2. Promote environmental conservation and climate resilience.
3. Encourage faith leaders to incorporate environmental stewardship into sermons, teachings and community activities.
4. Strengthen collaboration between faith institutions and environmental organizations.
5. Inspire communities to see every church, mosque, home and community space as an opportunity to grow something green.

When we plant a tree, we are not only thinking about today; we are investing in the environment, future generations and the resilience of our communities.

Let's Green our Worship, let's heal our Earth.
Together, let's leave a Legacy of Green Faith.
