AMR Club KASU Pays Courtesy Visit to Deputy Vice Chancellor SISD.
On April 16, 2026, the leadership of the Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Club, Kaduna State University (KASU), paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Strategy, Innovation, and Service Delivery), Prof. Helen Afang Andow.
During the meeting, the newly inaugurated executives, led by the President, Hassan Kabir Muhammad, formally introduced the council and presented an overview of the club’s past achievements, as well as its strategic plans and proposed activities for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Prof. Andow congratulated and officially endorsed the new leadership, expressing confidence in their capacity to drive impactful initiatives in antimicrobial resistance awareness and advocacy.
She further advised the team to adopt a proactive approach by submitting proposals early, noting that timely engagement with university management improves efficiency and increases the chances of institutional support.
As part of her recommendations, she encouraged the club to engage with Prof. Auwal Faruk Abdussalam, Director of Academic Planning, who is part of a team that secured a research grant of approximately €200,000 for antimicrobial resistance. She noted that the AMR Club could explore strategic collaboration opportunities and potentially benefit from such initiatives.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the university’s support for the AMR Club’s vision and activities.

AMR Club KASU Visits Dean of Student Affairs.
On April 15, 2026, the leadership of the Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Club, Kaduna State University (KASU), paid a courtesy visit to the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. M. K. Dauda.
Led by the President, Hassan Kabir Muhammad, the team engaged in a productive discussion focused on strengthening the club’s impact and aligning its activities with university standards. Prof. Dauda commended the initiative and encouraged the executives to remain strategic, innovative, and impact-driven in addressing antimicrobial resistance.
He emphasized the importance of well-structured program planning, professionalism, and proper administrative processes in executing successful activities.
The Dean also endorsed the club’s efforts and assured them of his continued support.
Notably, he confirmed that a previously submitted proposal by the AMR Club has been reviewed, signed, and forwarded to the Vice Chancellor for final approval, marking a key step forward for the club.
The AMR Club leadership appreciated the guidance and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing AMR awareness across the university community.

Antimicrobial Resistance occurs when microorganisms such as bacteria become resistant to medicines that were previously effective.

The AMR Club, Kaduna State University, successfully concluded its 2025 World Antimicrobial Awareness Week activities with the first-ever AMR Community Awareness Walk in Kaduna State.
The walk covered major routes including Gulf Course Road, Yakubu Gowon Way, Ahmadu Bello way, Katsina Road, and Independence Way, bringing antimicrobial resistance education directly to residents within these communities.
Through strategic engagement, distribution of educational materials, and one-on-one conversations, the walk reached over 500 members of the public, raising awareness on:
The growing threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR)
The dangers of antibiotic misuse and self-medication
The importance of hygiene, vaccination, and infection-prevention practices
The role of the community in safeguarding the effectiveness of antibiotics
This landmark activity was organized in collaboration with:
Kaduna State University Medical Students Association (KASUMSA)
Pharmaceutical Association of Nigeria Students (PANS) – Public Health Committee
