URGENT INTERVENTION BY THE STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL, KADUNA STATE UNIVERSITY
The Student Representative Council (SRC), under the leadership of Sumayyah Muhammad-Sani remains deeply concerned about the looming industrial dispute at Kaduna State University and its potential impact on the academic activities, welfare, and future of our students.
In line with our responsibility to protect the interests of the entire student body, the SRC has taken proactive steps by submitting a formal appeal to the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, His Excellency Senator Uba Sani, CON, seeking urgent intervention to avert any disruption to our academic calendar.
We remain hopeful that our student-centric Governor, who has consistently demonstrated commitment to the welfare and development of students across Kaduna State, will once again respond swiftly and decisively to this situation.
To our dear KASUites, we understand your concerns, anxieties, and the uncertainty surrounding the current situation. We urge everyone to remain calm, focused, and hopeful. The SRC is actively engaging with the relevant stakeholders and will continue to stand firmly in defence of students' academic interests.
This is not a time for panic, but a time for responsible engagement, unity, and constructive action.
We assure the entire student community that we will continue to keep you informed of every significant development.
The SRC is working.
The students' interest remains our priority.
Together, we shall protect the academic future of KASUites.
Sumayyah Muhammad-Sani

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the sudden death of Nafisat Dawud, a student of the Department of Arabic Studies, Kaduna State University.
Her untimely demise is not only a great loss to her family, friends, and loved ones, but also to the entire Kaduna State University community. While her passing leaves a profound void in our hearts, we submit to the will of Almighty Allah, knowing that every soul shall taste death.
May Allah grant her eternal rest, forgive her shortcomings, illuminate her grave, and admit her into Jannatul Firdaus. May He also grant her family, friends, colleagues, and the entire University community the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
May her soul rest in perfect peace. Ameen.

ASUU-KASU has issued a two-week ultimatum to the Kaduna State Government to avert industrial action; effective from Wednesday 12 August, 2026.
The union insists that the government must urgently address the lingering issues, which include:
1.Non-implementation of the 2025 FGN-ASUU Agreement effective January 2026.
2. Outstanding Excess Academic Allowance since 2017.
3. Promotion arrears.
4. Death benefits.
5. 25/35 wage award.
6. Group life insurance cover.
7. University autonomy.
ASUU-KASU is tired of repeated assurances such as “we are ready,” “we are committed,” and “the governor is willing.”
What is needed now is not another round of promises, but concrete action.

📢 AMR AWARENESS SERIES – EPISODE 15
💊 Antibiotics and Viral Infections: Know the Difference
One of the biggest drivers of AMR is misuse in viral illnesses
🦠 Viral infections include:
✔ Common cold
✔ Flu
✔ Most sore throats
✔ Some coughs
🦠 Bacterial infections include:
✔ Typhoid
✔ Some pneumonias
✔ Certain UTIs
❌ Important:
❌ Antibiotics do NOT kill viruses
📌 Why misuse is dangerous:
✔ No benefit to the patient
✔ Kills beneficial bacteria in the body
✔ Encourages resistant bacteria to grow
💡 Treatment for viral infections is usually supportive (rest, fluids, etc.)
⚠️ Always confirm the cause before using antibiotics.
