Do you believe that a child that is not upto 3yrs, go through a stage that is called the subconscious stage, that is why identification and continuous reinforcement is important at this stage
A child can show you colour red today and tomorrow, he/she is showing you another colour as red
In Montessori, we say the conscious stage starts @ 3yrs, that's why most books you see starts at age3, that's the actual learning age
It is fine if a child starts showing interest very early, we help the child towards learning the necessary things but not forcing the child
It's only in Nigeria that 1yr+ starts school, which is so stressful and some schools will be bent on writing a long scheme of work with timetable, please, preschoolers do not work with timetable, it's not possible but as a teacher focus on your learning expectation for each learner and try to achieve it, I will always say it, learning doesn't take place after 12noon, those toddlers are exhausted, the only Nursery class I know that needs timetable is the Nursery class ( 4th class- 4yrs+) before Year1, as a teacher make proper use of circle-time and morning periods, you will achieve a lot👍🏻
An assessment will help you know what numbers, sounds, shapes and colours your child can recognize and what you should reinforce on and activities that the child can get involved in to be better, not scoring a child and writing, ( no response) some kids won't even talk in class but they are everywhere at home, asking the "wh" questions (why, what and where) just like my 2 years old daughter
Focus on Assessments please👌
