Today we gather for an important moment in our school: the appointment of the new prefects. This is not just a ceremony to hand out badges and titles. It is a moment where responsibility, trust, and leadership are recognized — and renewed.
Prefects play a pivotal role in our school community. They are more than just rule enforcers. They are role models. They are examples in behaviour, in attitude, in diligence, and in respect. When a student sees a prefect walking the talk — being punctual, polite, hardworking — it reminds everyone what our school stands for.
Being appointed a prefect is an honour. It is a sign that the school entrusts you with representing your peers. But it is also a duty — a duty to serve. It means caring for others, listening to their concerns, helping to make this school a place where everyone feels safe, included, and respected.
To those who are being appointed today: I congratulate you. This position comes with challenges — maintaining discipline, being fair, balancing academics with duties — but also with great opportunities: to grow as leaders, to learn empathy, to make a real difference in the lives of others.
To the rest of the students, your part is just as important. Support your prefects. Respect them. Work with them. The success of a prefect’s leadership depends on a community that collaborates and respects guidelines not out of fear, but because they share a belief in the values of our school.
Let us all commit: prefects to serve well, students to respect, teachers to guide, and everyone to uphold the standards and spirit that make our school proud.
