The Students' Union Government of the Federal College of Education, Iwo, has announced the FYB Week 2026 for the Class of '26, scheduled to run from Monday, September 21 to Friday, September 25, 2026.

The five-day celebration promises a lineup of exciting themed activities:

Admission Now Open at Federal College of Education, Iwo for 2026/2027 Academic Session

The Federal College of Education, Iwo, Osun State, has opened its doors for the 2026/2027 academic session, inviting applications from qualified candidates for its Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programme — blended with ICT in Education and a Practical-Based Entrepreneurship Programme.

The institution, which recently earned recognition as the 2024 Overall Best Student in Nigerian Colleges of Education and the 2025 Best AI Researcher in Nigerian Colleges of Education, offers a wide range of double major and combined subject programmes including Agricultural Education, Computer Science, Mathematics, English, Arabic/Islamic Studies, Early Childhood Care Education, Primary Education Studies, Yoruba, Social Studies, Home Economics, and many more.

Entry Requirements:
Credits in relevant subjects in WAEC, NECO, or equivalent with a minimum JAMB score of 100.

How to Apply:
Candidates who did not choose FCE Iwo in JAMB can effect a change of institution at any JAMB CBT Centre. Both JAMB and non-JAMB candidates can apply with a processing fee of ₦700. Non-JAMB candidates pay an additional ₦3,500 JAMB registration fee.

Scholarship opportunities are also available for qualified candidates.

Vacancy: Federal College Of Education, Iwo Invites Applications for College Librarian Position

The Federal College of Education, Iwo, Osun State, has advertised a vacancy for the position of College Librarian and is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration of the college library and supervising library services across all teaching units of the institution.

Qualifications Required:
Candidates must possess a good Bachelor's Degree in Library Science with a Master's in Library and Information Science from a recognised institution, with at least 15 years cognate experience and registration with a Professional Library body. A PhD with at least 12 years cognate experience is also acceptable. Proficiency in ICT, sound human relations, and evidence of substantial contribution to knowledge through research and scholarly publications are also required. Candidates must not be above 59 years of age at the time of appointment.

Tenure:
The appointment is for a single term of five years only.

New College Management Team Pays Courtesy Visit to Oluwo of Iwoland

The Management of the College today paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, at his palace office in Iwo.

The visit, which followed the official handover ceremony, provided an opportunity for meaningful engagement with the revered monarch. The Management expressed sincere appreciation for the Oluwo’s continued support towards the growth of the institution and the development of the wider community.

We also reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening collaboration with traditional leadership in advancing progress across Iwoland.

FCE Iwo Holds Valedictory Academic Board Meeting for Outgoing Management Team

The College held a special valedictory session of its Academic Board to honor the outgoing Management Team led by the Provost, Prof. Rafiu I. Adebayo. Also recognized were the Registrar, Alhaji Mugisu A. Yusuff, and the College Librarian, Dr. (Mrs) Deborah F. Iyanda.

Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Adebayo thanked members of the Academic Board and the entire College staff for their support during the team’s time in office. He encouraged staff and stakeholders to give the same level of cooperation to the incoming management in order to maintain the progress of the institution.

Members of the Academic Board also presented gifts to the outgoing management team as a sign of appreciation for their service and leadership.

The meeting ended with goodwill messages, as members acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing team and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting academic excellence and the continued development of the College.

Federal Government Approves Dual Mandate for Federal College Education, Iwo

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Federal Ministry of Education has approved dual mandate programme for the Federal College of Education, Iwo.

In a letter dated 25th February 2026, the Ministry confirmed that the National Universities Commission (NUC) has been requested to conduct a resource assessment visit to the College. This step will pave the way for FCE, Iwo to operate both as a college of education and a degree‑awarding institution.

This milestone underscores the government’s commitment to expanding access to higher education and strengthening teacher training in Nigeria.

The Governing Council of Federal College of Education, Iwo is pleased to formally announce the appointment of Dr. (Mrs.) Suliyat Ogungboyega JimSalaam as the new Provost of the College.

Dr. Ogungboyega JimSalaam brings to this office years of academic experience, administrative capacity, and a deep understanding of teacher education and institutional development. Her vision for the College centers on academic excellence, staff and student welfare, research advancement, infrastructural growth, and strengthened community engagement.

As an indigene of Iwo, her appointment marks a significant moment in the history of the institution. The College remains committed to upholding its mandate of producing competent, innovative, and professionally trained educators who will contribute meaningfully to national development.

FCE Iwo Announces Hon. Mudashiru Lukman as Recipient of 2026 Trailblazer Award

The Federal College of Education, Iwo is pleased to announce Mudashiru Lukman, Member of the House of Representatives representing Ayedire/Iwo/Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency, as the recipient of the 2026 Trailblazer Award for Educational Development.

This prestigious award is in recognition of Hon. Lukman’s outstanding commitment to the advancement of quality education and his significant contributions to the development of the College. His interventions include a scholarship programme that has benefited over 150 students of the institution, as well as the donation of an ICT Laboratory, which has enhanced teaching, learning, and digital capacity within the College.

The award will be formally presented during the grand finale of the maiden Convocation Ceremony of the Federal College of Education, Iwo, scheduled to hold on Saturday, 14th February 2026, at the College Auditorium, Main Campus, Iwo.

Hon. Mudasiru Lukman Kayode Meets Sponsorship Beneficiaries, College Management to Strengthen Education Initiative

Hon. Mudasiru Lukman Kayode (L&K) has reaffirmed his commitment to educational development as he and his team met with beneficiaries of the Hon. L&K Sponsorship Programme and the College Management on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

The strategic engagement was convened to review progress, address implementation issues, and further consolidate the sponsorship programme, which is aimed at expanding access to quality education and supporting students’ academic success.

The meeting was attended by key members of the College leadership, including the Provost, Prof. R.I. Adebayo; the Registrar, Alh. M.A. Yusuff; the Acting Bursar, Mr. I.O. Olasupo; the Deputy Registrar (Academic Affairs), Hajia Rafat Logun-Adeyemo; the Acting Director of ICT, Mr. Tesleem Amoo; and the Admission Officer, Mr. Damilola Kolawole. Their presence underscored the institution’s support for the initiative and its alignment with the College’s academic objectives.

Also present were the Chairman of the Hon. L&K Education Committee, Prince Lamuye, and the Sponsorship Programme Coordinator, alongside the student beneficiaries.
