New College Management Team Pays Courtesy Visit to Oluwo of Iwoland

The Management of the College today paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, at his palace office in Iwo.

The visit, which followed the official handover ceremony, provided an opportunity for meaningful engagement with the revered monarch. The Management expressed sincere appreciation for the Oluwo’s continued support towards the growth of the institution and the development of the wider community.

We also reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening collaboration with traditional leadership in advancing progress across Iwoland.

In his remarks, His Royal Majesty commended the Management Team for the visit and their proactive approach to stakeholder engagement. He assured the College of his unwavering support and emphasized the importance of strong synergy between traditional institutions and modern educational establishments in driving sustainable development.

Federal Government Approves Dual Mandate for Federal College Education, Iwo

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Federal Ministry of Education has approved dual mandate programme for the Federal College of Education, Iwo.

In a letter dated 25th February 2026, the Ministry confirmed that the National Universities Commission (NUC) has been requested to conduct a resource assessment visit to the College. This step will pave the way for FCE, Iwo to operate both as a college of education and a degree‑awarding institution.

This milestone underscores the government’s commitment to expanding access to higher education and strengthening teacher training in Nigeria.

The Governing Council of Federal College of Education, Iwo is pleased to formally announce the appointment of Dr. (Mrs.) Suliyat Ogungboyega JimSalaam as the new Provost of the College.

Dr. Ogungboyega JimSalaam brings to this office years of academic experience, administrative capacity, and a deep understanding of teacher education and institutional development. Her vision for the College centers on academic excellence, staff and student welfare, research advancement, infrastructural growth, and strengthened community engagement.

As an indigene of Iwo, her appointment marks a significant moment in the history of the institution. The College remains committed to upholding its mandate of producing competent, innovative, and professionally trained educators who will contribute meaningfully to national development.

We call on staff, students, alumni, and stakeholders to give the new Provost their full cooperation and support as she begins this new chapter of leadership.

The FEDERAL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION IWO AWARDS CEREMONY & CULTURAL NIGHT held at the College Auditorium yesterday Thursday 12th day of February 2026 was a harvest of honours and recognition for IBOT 3 as 6 members were recognised and given special awards.
