Jamiu Secondary School Debate Series 2026
Today, the academic atmosphere at Jamiu Secondary School was electrified as SS2 and SS3 students engaged in an intellectually stimulating debate on the topic:
“ACADEMIC ABILITY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN PRACTICAL SKILLS .”
🔹 SS2 students strongly supported the motion, presenting compelling arguments that academic ability forms the foundation of professional excellence. They emphasized that structured learning builds critical thinking, theoretical understanding, and qualifications necessary for careers in medicine, law, engineering, and other prestigious fields.
🔹 SS3 students opposed the motion, arguing that practical skills are essential for real-world application. They maintained that without hands-on experience, academic knowledge remains incomplete and less impactful in solving real-life problems.

Report on Educational Excursion to Iyake Suspended Lake, Ado-Awaye
Date of Trip: Tuesday, 17th February, 2026

INTRODUCTION

Jamiu Schools organized an educational excursion to Iyake Suspended Lake, Ado-Awaye, on Tuesday, 17th February, 2026. The purpose of the trip was to expose students to one of Nigeria’s unique natural landmarks, broaden their knowledge of geography, and promote learning outside the classroom environment.

OBJECTIVES OF THE TRIP

The excursion was aimed at:
* Enhancing students’ understanding of physical and environmental geography.
* Providing firsthand experience of a natural tourist attraction.
* Encouraging teamwork, cooperation, and social interaction among students.
* Promoting physical fitness through hiking and outdoor activities.

ACTIVITIES DURING THE TRIP.

The journey commenced in the early hours of the morning from the school premises.
Upon arrival at Ado-Awaye, students were guided by instructors and local tour guides. They climbed the ancient hills leading to Iyake Suspended Lake, observing various rock formations, caves, and historical landmarks along the way.
Students were educated about the history and cultural significance of the lake, which is known as one of the rare suspended lakes in the world. They asked questions, took photographs, and participated actively in discussions.

EDUCATIONAL BENEFIT

The excursion provided practical exposure that complemented classroom lessons, especially in Geography, Social Studies, and Civic Education. Students gained deeper knowledge about:
- Rock formations and natural landscapes.
- The importance of preserving tourist sites and the environment.
- The cultural heritage associated with Ado-Awaye community.

CONCLUSION

The trip to Iyake Suspended Lake was successful, educative, and memorable. Students returned safely and happily, enriched with knowledge and practical experience. The management of Jamiu Schools appreciates the cooperation of staff, parents, and students who made the excursion a success.

DRUG ABUSE SENSITIZATION PROGRAM AT JAMIU SCHOOLS ALAMOLE AREA EKUNLE ISEYIN OYO STATE.

Today, our school had the great privilege of hosting officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and members of the NDLEA Corps Team, who came to sensitize our students on the use and abuse of drugs.

The session was highly educative, inspiring, and impactful, as the officers enlightened our students on the dangers of drug abuse, the importance of making the right choices, and how to become ambassadors of a drug-free society.

We sincerely appreciate the NDLEA Officers and Corps Members for their time, effort, and dedication to this noble cause. We are deeply grateful and highly honored to have had them in our midst today.

Together, we say NO to drug abuse and YES to a bright, healthy future! 🌿💪
