As we move towards the end of 2025 and are just five years away from the 2030 deadline for the Sustainable Development Goals ( ), the reality is alarming. No doubt that we failed to meet the Millennium Development Goals ( ), and now, the SDGs, which promised a better, fairer, and more sustainable world, are looking more like distant dreams than attainable goals.

By now, we were supposed to be
1. Fighting climate change together
2. Ending global poverty
3. Promoting peace and justice
4. Empowering women and ensuring economic freedom
5. Silencing guns and reducing conflict
6. Improving education, health, and well-being for all

But instead, what do we see?

War, conflict, death caused by explosions and guns, destruction of properties, and death of children and women. etc

There is war in , , ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ, , , , , ฬ‡ran, etc. And the US recently bombed Iranian nuclear sites , , and , which, in my opinion, would only add to an already fragile global landscape.

So I ask:
1. How can we talk about global partnerships when bombs are flying over children's heads?
2. How do we fight change when resources are being diverted to military spending?
3. How do we increase opportunities when entire communities are displaced or under siege?
4. Can there be peace and well-being in a world where guns speak louder than dialogue?
5. What happened to the idea of "leaving no one behind"?

The were developed with 17 goals that were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. They are meant to be a shared vision for humanity. A commitment to uplift, protect, and empower every person, everywhere.

If we are still going in the opposite direction, when exactly do we intend to get back on track?

The world doesnโ€™t need more weapons. It needs wisdom, will, and unity.

It's time to reflect deeply about our agenda to silence guns by 2030 to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals

Burkina Faso ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ซ

This is one of the military officers who allegedly plotted the coup against Captain Traore.

His name is Constantin Kabore.

He has reportedly fled to Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire.

According to an official statement from Burkina Faso's Minister of Security, Kabore is a professionally trained officer with military training from Europe.

I was reviewing my email and came across some of the applications I sent out four years ago. To be honest, I now understand why most of them were unsuccessful.

My CVs were sent without a proper email subject. No introductory message or context.

This isnโ€™t new knowledge, but I think I should emphasize again that
โœ… Always customize your application for the job.
โœ… Use a clear email subject line.
โœ… Add a short, polite cover note introducing yourself.
โœ… Donโ€™t just attach a CV โ€” explain why youโ€™re a good fit.

Growth is beautiful, but reflection is powerful. If you're currently applying for jobs, please learn from my early mistakes. Presentation matters just as much as potential.

Last week, I had the privilege of touring the community in the Negev as part of my masterโ€™s program at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel. It was an enriching experience that highlighted the importance of blending tradition with modernity to create sustainable solutions for communities.

We began in Tel Sheva, meeting a remarkable woman Axis of the Desert who seamlessly integrates Bedouin traditions into her business, showcasing the power of cultural entrepreneurship. At the joealon center for Bedouin Culture, we explored the vibrant heritage of the Bedouin people, gaining insights into their history and way of life. The day ended at the Association in , a wonderful organization focused on empowering women through traditional crafts and entrepreneurship, a mission that deeply resonates with my work back in Nigeria.

Coming from a background of working with underserved communities, this experience reaffirmed the universal value of empowering women and preserving cultural identity as catalysts for sustainable development. Itโ€™s incredible to see how local knowledge and tradition can shape innovative solutions that uplift entire communities.

This visit inspires me to continue learning and applying these lessons in my journey toward empowering underserved communities in .

Yesterday marked the International Day for Education, and while I may be a day late, the lessons and memories Iโ€™ve gathered over the years are timeless.

My experience teaching in underserved communities in Ogun State, Nigeria, has shaped my understanding of the transformative power of education. I still recall the faces of children in my classroomโ€”curious, hopeful, and determined, despite the challenges they faced outside the school walls.

Education is the bridge that can close these gaps. It's not just about teaching literacy and numeracy; itโ€™s about equipping children with the tools to dream, innovate, and change their world. My time in Ogun State taught me that education is more than a rightโ€”itโ€™s a hope for a brighter future.

As we celebrate this day, letโ€™s remember the millions of children who are still waiting for the chance to unlock their potential. Letโ€™s work together to ensure that every child, no matter where they are, has access to quality education and the support they need to thrive.

In 2024, I learned that education can be a bridge connecting a roadside mechanic's son to international scholarship.

This year was about proving that real educational change happens when we look beyond classrooms and invest in entire ecosystems of opportunity.

Through STITCH-2-EDUCATE, we didn't just train women - we rebuilt community foundations. We provided vocational skills to 11 women, distributed over 105 school uniforms, and created pathways for children who might otherwise be left behind.

Key milestones that defined our journey:

Secured First Runner-Up in Teach For Nigeria's Be The Change Project (competing against 122 initiatives)

Published groundbreaking research on curriculum development in the International Journal of Curriculum and Instruction

Became an M.A. Candidate, Sustainability and African Development, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.

Three posts that captured our transformative year:

My Journey to Empowering Education" - Reflecting on roots and potential

"STITCH-2-EDUCATE Achievement" - Demonstrating community-driven change

"Empowering Communities through Education" - Exploring global knowledge exchange

Looking ahead to 2025, my focus remains clear: developing sustainable educational models that can be replicated across underserved communities.

As I continue my Masters in African Studies at Ben-Gurion University, I'm committed to bridging academic research with practical, community-driven implementation.

To the women of STITCH-2-EDUCATE, my Teach For Nigeria colleagues, and the resilient communities we serve: our work continues, our hope remains undiminished.

Earlier today, a young boy, I suspect he is in primary 1 or 2, walked by and said, โ€œThat car is black.โ€

I was curious, I looked, and yes, the car was indeed black. In that moment, I realized that this was probably when he fully processed the concept of the color black.

This experience reminded me that, as teachers, we canโ€™t expect all students to understand concepts instantly. Sometimes, it takes time. They might only grasp it when theyโ€™re back home or out playing, and thatโ€™s okay.

So to all the educators out there: letโ€™s give our students the patience and space they need.

Learning is a process, and sometimes the lightbulb moment happens long after the lesson is taught.
