Most of us have an innate understanding of music. Even if we can’t play an instrument, or even sing, somehow, we can connect with rhythms and melodies. Heck, even plants understand music. Did you know they tend to grow faster after a generous helping of classical music? It’s true. World Day of Music or Fête de la Musique, celebrated each June 21, was first started in France but today highlights music’s universal appeal. It’s meant to make music more inclusive and encourage people of varying skill levels to interact a lot more with all types of tunes. World Day of Music is also an opportunity for musicians to build their presence and connect with their audience on social media.
World Music Day or Intenational Music Day is celebrated every year in the month of June (21st June). This means the official day of celebration is tommorow Tuesday 21st.
For avid music lovers or melophiles, the World Music Day is no less than a festival. Since the 'Music Day' originated in France, it is called 'Fete de la Musique' in French meaning 'Music Festival'. The day is being celebrated worldwide to encourage the musicians.
Like every year, World Music Day 2022 will be an opportunity for professional and non-professional musicians to showcase their talents to the world.
On the eve of World Music Day 2022, many free music concerts and outdoor events will be held worldwide.

The origin of World Music Day dates back to the France where it was first celebrated in the year 1982. The idea of celebrating Music Day worldwide was first conceived by Jack Lang, who was the French Minister of Culture back then. Jack Lange along with Maurice Fleuret initiated the first-ever music festival in Paris and since then it is being celebrated religiously every year on 21 June across the globe.

The World Music Day has a great importance in the lives of musicians worldwide. Some of the main reasons behind Music Day being so important are:
1. Music Day provides a platform for all musicians (professional & non-professional) to exhibit their talents.
2. Musicians are allowed to perform in public areas like streets, alleys, roads, parks, porches and so on. This boosts their confidence and also motivates young musicians to opt music as a career.
3. Music is a great therapy for mind, body, and soul. Music day reminds people to take some time out of their busy schedules and relax their mind, body, and soul.
4. On the eve of Music Day, listening music from everywhere gives a surreal experience to the people.
WORLD DAY OF MUSIC ACTIVITIES
1. Learn an instrument
Don't worry. Everyone's a beginner at some point. Even Paul Simon had to start somewhere. Use this day as an excuse to sign up for lessons. Or teach yourself. There's always YouTube.
2. Create some homemade music
Even if you can't play a genuine instrument yet, grab some everyday household objects, get together with your friends, and jam away. The music-making process can be therapeutic.
3. Discover new artists
Go out of your way to explore new genres. Put your Spotify subscription to good use. Even better, go to your neighborhood record store (if you have one), and do some crate digging. You will be surprised at your discoveries.
