*Report of Zoom Meeting organized by Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja on Examinations Timetables on the 18th March, 2021.*

Meeting commenced with self introduction by 11.30am.
Hajia Binta Abdulkadri Director Basic Education Federal Ministry of Education addressed us on the need for examinations bodies and stake holders to harmonise their examinations timetables for effective planning and conduct of National and International examinations.
The Permanent Secretary invited stakeholders to speak.
After fruitful deliberations we came up with the following:

1.NABTEC exams will be within 14th of June to 9th of July, 2021

2. NECO exams will start on the 5th of July and end on 23rd August 2021.

3. WAEC to commence on 16th August to September 2021 (6 weeks) We arrived at this date because WAEC examinations are written by some other West African countries. Hence a convenient dates to all the countries has to be picked at WAEC international meetings.

4. Tentative date for BECE is Friday 28th May to end Thursday 11th June 2021

5. In attendance at the said Time Table Zoom meeting includes among others :

a. Federal Ministry of Education officers,

b. WAEC

c. NECO

d. National Business and Technical Examinations Board( NABTEB) Benin City.

e. National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) Kaduna

f. States MOE officers

g. NAPPS

h. ANCOPS.

6. Detail Examinations timetable may be ready immediately after Easter break.

I'm addition, guidance on their choice of courses, many of them are making choices based on peer decisions.

1. Stop making boys class reps and girls assistants by default. Girls should be given the opportunity to also be class prefects while boys assist. Girls should not always assist if they can actually lead better.

2. Revise your social studies textbooks and stop teaching your students that fathers provide money and mothers cook, clean and wash. The conversation should be open to the fact that roles in marriage differs, and they must not be based on gender.

3. Don’t ever limit your student’s ambition using orthodox gender narratives. It’s okay if a boy wants to be a chef or model. It’s okay if a girl wants to be a mechanical engineer. Don’t sell a gender bias that’ll influence their choice of career.

4. Don’t stop girls from playing soccer if that’s what they want, and don’t ridicule boys who can’t play soccer. Girls are not meant for indoor games. Let them choose the sport they want want to engage in no matter how it defies traditional gender roles.

5. Don’t shame boys for ‘letting’ a girl do well and top the class. Things like this should never be said: “you’re not ashamed that a girl came out best in the test”. You’re belittling the girls, and socializing the boys never to accommodate a woman’s excellence.

6. Don’t make ridiculous comments like: “you talk too much like a girl...” “you walk like a girl”. You are imprinting gender stereotypes on their minds, and influencing them to feel that a girl is the yardstick of everything they should never be.

Don’t tell your male students to not cry and to man up when they are teary eyed. You are enabling toxic masculinity. It’s okay for boys to cry. Boys are humans, boys have emotions, and boys should be free to express vulnerability.

Don’t make jest of a girl’s with comments like: “you are too stubborn like a boy...you fight too much like a boy” These comments are laced with sexist ideologies that subliminally promote that it’s okay for boys to be unruly and violent,

The assassination last Friday of General Qassem Soleimani, 62, the Iranian military commander, has introduced another dimension to modern warfare. They may not have been aware of the American military drones that suddenly happened on their convoy from the sky and blasted Soleimani and all members of his entourage. Their death was fiery and immediate. Then the drones returned to base.

The base may be an American Aircraft carrier on the Mediterranean Sea or any military base in the Middle-East. Soleimani, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp, IRGC, has commanded the unit since 1998. He was regarded as the most powerful military figure in Iran, overseeing the Shiites state involvements in many theaters’ of politics and conflicts including Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and Saudi Arabia. He was feared by his opponents and fiercely loved by his supporters. During his burial processions, at least 50 mourners died in the stampede to get a better glimpse of their hero.

The assassination of Soleimani, ordered by American President Donald Trump, is another indication that science is changing the meaning of war. Instead of sending soldiers and manned aircraft, America has deployed unmanned drones to take off an alleged foe with deadly precision. *10 "DONTS" FOR 21ST CENTURY TEACHERS.*

1. *Don’t send a student away from your class during lessons as a result of bad behaviour.* You cannot account for what the child may be doing outside and this will count against you if an accident occurs.

2. *Don’t touch a learner inordinately.*
If the learner claims he/she was sexually abused, you may not be able to refute it.

3. *Don’t give assignments you know you won’t have time to mark.* Unmarked assignments or work show that you are incompetent and unprofessional.

4. *Don’t use your school internet to send private and confidential emails.* They can be tracked by the school management or ICT dept.

5. *Don’t just teach only within the periods given to you if you are preparing learners for external examinations.* Create more contact time for your students.

6. *Don’t stay with a student alone in a class , lab, office etc.* Child protection policy forbids it. Avoid “one corner” teaching.

7. *Don’t ask a child to kneel down for too long a time.*
He or she might have health challenges which you are unaware of.

8. *Don’t conspire against your school head* (HOD, Academic heads) etc. What goes around, comes around.

9. *Don't be a difficult educator, neither should you transfer aggression on any learner.* Pocket your personal problems and always be full of life.

10. *Don’t treat students unequally.*
There should be nothing like 'favourite students'.
Every child matters.

BREAKING: NECO releases 2019 SSCE results

The National Examinations Council(NECO) has released the results of the 2019 June/July Senior School Certificate Examination.

The acting registrar, Abubakar Gana, announced the release at the council headquarters in Minna on Tuesday.

He said 71 per cent of the candidates obtained five credits including English and mathematics.

The SSCE is conducted for candidates in their final year (SS111). NECO examines students in 76 subjects, cross-cutting core subjects, humanities, business studies, and trade/entrepreneurship.

Candidates must offer the four cross-cutting compulsory subjects, three to four subjects from their area of specialisation and one elective outside their field provided the number of subjects is not more than nine.
