PRESS RELEASE
2026/2027 ACADEMIC SESSION SCHOOL FEES: UNION RECEIVES MANAGEMENT COMMITMENT ON CHARGES
MODEL and EFFICIENT Unilorites,
Following our recent engagement with the University Management, we write to update you ahead on the outcome of discussions concerning school fees and other matters directly affecting students’ academic experience and welfare.
The Union wishes to clearly state that there has been no general increment across board in school fees. The University Management has committed that no increments will be made to existing charges, save for the necessary additions arising from the specific service provisions highlighted below.
For the general student population, the additions are the ₦4,000 increase in the LMS fee from the amount earlier payable and the ₦200 NIN verification fee, bringing the general additional charges to ₦4,200. These are necessary additions tied to the services for which they are provided. The LMS charge supports the continued optimisation and effective functioning of the platform for academic activities, while the NIN verification fee is required to ensure accurate student records and facilitate essential administrative processes, including the timely production of student identity cards.
However, for students in Clinical Sciences, Industrial Chemistry, Physics, and students offering minor courses from these departments, applicable charges relating to manuals, workbooks and required field trips will also reflect in their respective fees, as necessitated by the requirements of their academic programmes.
The official school fees schedule has not yet been circulated, therefore, the information contained in this update should not be regarded as the final published breakdown of fees. The specific amount payable by each student will soon reflect on their respective student portals, and students are advised to await the portal update to confirm and pay their individual charges.
The Union’s engagement was not limited to the issue of fees. We also raised concerns regarding better internet services, early distribution of manuals, timely production and distribution of student identity cards, and adequate preparation for the next session, particularly in the area of transportation. The Management responded positively to the issues raised, with steps already commencing in some areas, and the Union will continue to follow up to ensure that these commitments translate into tangible improvements for Unilorites.
Unilorites should note that this outcome is the culmination of targeted efforts by the Union alongside the Management to ensure that, despite prevailing economic challenges, our colleagues continue to access quality education at the minimum fee possible. The Union remains committed to presenting the realities of our colleagues, engaging the appropriate authorities, pursuing concessions where possible, and following through on commitments affecting the student community.
The Union remains committed to effective representation, constructive engagement and consistent follow-up, with the interests, welfare and academic experience of Unilorites remaining central to every engagement.
While further verified updates will be communicated through our channels, we want to again assure you of our continued commitment to advocacy, service and excellent representation.
