FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ilorin, Kwara State – January 24, 2026
Kwara State Polytechnic Worldwide Alumni Association Appeals for Reinstatement of Rector, Affirms Support for Governor’s Leadership
The duly elected National Executive Council (NEC) of the Kwara State Polytechnic Worldwide Alumni Association, acting on behalf of our global network of graduates, issues a heartfelt appeal to His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for the reconsideration and reinstatement of the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Engr. Abdul Jimoh.
The NEC, constitutionally elected on December 16, 2024, and serving as the legitimate representative of the alumni worldwide, acknowledges the Governor’s transformative interventions in the education sector and our alma mater.
This appeal follows the decision of the Government on the directive for the Rector to step aside in connection with the student protest of January 21, 2026, an event that has regrettably introduced uncertainty within the Polytechnic community.
We wish to state unequivocally that under the leadership of Dr. Jimoh, the Polytechnic management has been a pivotal partner in executing your administration’s vision. The management has been instrumental in delivering the remarkable stability and progress the institution has enjoyed over the past five years, which includes significant advancements in infrastructure, staff welfare, and student management.
This communication is not intended to defend any shortcomings but to highlight a proven track record of partnership and capacity. The current management has consistently demonstrated its commitment to being a partner in progress, aligning with Your Excellency’s laudable achievements in the education sector.
As critical stakeholders and ardent supporters of your administration’s pursuit of peace and development, we respectfully appeal for Your Excellency’s compassionate review and favourable consideration towards the Rector’s reinstatement. We believe this action will restore stability and allow the continuity of the positive trajectory you have championed.
We reiterate our unwavering pledge to support your administration’s ongoing developmental efforts for Kwara State Polytechnic and indeed the entire state.
Signed:
Comrade Tajudeen Habeeb (Tallest)
National Publicity Secretary(Elect)
Kwara State Polytechnic Worldwide Alumni Association.

From 3rd Class to First Class Honors, this is Omowumi Janet's story.
Ebiomofari Omowumi Janet, a resilient Nigerian student, overcame a rough start at the University of Ilorin, raising her GPA from 1.59 in her first year to a perfect 5.00, earning a first-class degree in Agricultural Science.
In a Twitter post, Janet shared how she struggled academically, starting with a 1.3 GPA in her first semester after failing two courses, while also facing financial difficulties, health challenges, and depression.
Motivated by these setbacks, she resolved to pursue excellence, and by her third year, she achieved straight A’s, crediting her success to hard work, discipline, determination, faith in God, and consistent effort.
Janet described her academic journey as both a personal and spiritual battle, using scripture for strength and encouraging others to stay focused, seek God’s guidance, and recognize that failure is part of the path to success.
