CURE TO FORGETFULNESS

Shaykh Salih Al-'Usaymi (may Allah preserve him upon goodness) said:

“... Among the beneficial remedies for eliminating forgetfulness is to constantly remember Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He). When a servant continually engages in the remembrance of his Lord and keeps his tongue occupied with it, this becomes one of the greatest means of removing the illness of forgetfulness from him.

This is because Allah, the Most High, said:
‘And remember your Lord when you forget.’ [Surah Al-Kahf 18:24]

From this verse, one may also understand the secret behind the ease of memorizing the Qur’an, as Allah the Exalted said:
‘And We have certainly made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there anyone who will remember?’ [Surah Al-Qamar 54:17]

Since the Noble Qur’an is the greatest and most eloquent form of remembrance (dhikr), its recitation contains the greatest assistance in preserving and mastering it. Thus, because it is the noblest and highest form of remembrance, the reward is that Allah (The Glorified and Exalted), prepares for the servant the means to preserve and master it — both in wording and meaning...”

This has also been mentioned by a number of scholars: that sins and heedlessness are among the greatest causes of weak memory, while remembrance of Allah and obedience to Him are among the strongest causes of a sound memory and firm retention of knowledge.

TEN CAUSES THAT BRING ABOUT THE LOVE OF ALLAH ( عز وجل) AL-IMAM IBN QAYYIM AL-JAWZI (رحمه الله) IN MADARIJ AL-SALIKIN :

FIRST: Reciting the Qur’an with reflection, deep understanding of its meanings, and comprehension of what is intended by it; like a person carefully studying a book which he has memorized and explained so that he may understand the intent of its author.

SECOND: Drawing near to Allah through voluntary acts of worship after the obligatory duties, for they elevate a person from merely loving Allah to becoming beloved by Him.

THIRD: Constant remembrance of Him in every state — with the tongue, the heart, one’s actions, and one’s condition. A person’s share of love is according to his share of this remembrance.

FOURTH: Giving preference to what Allah loves over what you love when desires become overwhelming, and striving to ascend toward what He loves even when the path is difficult.

FIFTH: The heart’s contemplation of His Names and Attributes, witnessing and recognizing them, and wandering through the gardens of this knowledge3 and its foundations. Whoever knows Allah through His Names, Attributes, and Actions will inevitably love Him. Thus, the deniers of His Attributes, the Pharaoh-like people, and the Jahmiyyah (and people of innovation in general) became barriers preventing hearts from reaching the Beloved.

SIXTH: Observing His goodness, kindness, favors, and inward and outward blessings, for these call the servant to love Him.

SEVENTH: And this is among the most astonishing of them: the complete breaking and humbling of the heart before Allah تعالى. Words and expressions cannot fully describe this meaning.

EIGHTH: Secludingeself with Him at the time of the Divine descent, conversing with Him, reciting His words, standing before Him with the heart in proper servitude and manners, then concluding that with seeking forgiveness and repentance.

NINTH: Sitting with sincere lovers of Allah and gathering the finest fruits of their speech just as one carefully selects the finest fruits; and do not speak unless the benefit of speaking outweighs remaining silent, and you know that it will improve your state and benefit others.

TENTH: Distancing oneself from every cause that comes between the heart and Allah

Through these ten causes, the lovers reached the stations of love and entered upon the Beloved. The foundation of all of that rests upon two matters:

° The soul being prepared for this affair.
° The opening of the eye of spiritual insight.

And with Allah lies all success.

KEEP THE FASTING GOING…

✍ *Ibn al-Qayyim* (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

“Fasting is the bridle of the righteous, the shield of the warriors, and the spiritual training of the virtuous and those brought near to Allah. It is for the Lord of the worlds alone among all other deeds. The fasting person does not actively perform something; rather, he abandons his desires, his food, and his drink for the sake of the One he worships.

It is the abandonment of the soul’s beloved things and pleasures, giving preference to the love of Allah and His pleasure. It is a secret between the servant and Allah that none but Him can observe. People may see that he has left the outward nullifiers of the fast, but as for his leaving his food, drink, and desires for the sake of his Lord — that is something no human being can truly see. And that is the reality of fasting.”

*Zad al-Ma'ad* (2/34)

*Check yourself and renew your intention regularly. Sit and ask yourself these questions:*

1. Have I truly abandoned my food, drink, and desires for Allah?
2. Am I truly fasting for Allah?
3. Will I be among those who are forgiven and freed from Hellfire through this fast?
4. Do I consider that this might be my last Ramadan on the face of the earth?

There are still more days remaining in the month of Ramadan. Keep your worship going. Make sure you increase your good deeds as we approach the best nights of the year.

ASK YOURSELF: WHY DO I MEMORIZE THE QUR’AN — FOR ALLAH OR FOR RIYAA (SHOWING OFF)?

In today’s world, Qur’an memorization has become a beautiful trend among the elite — Alhamdulillah. But sadly, for many, it has become more of a status symbol than an act of devotion.

You hear people say in gatherings:
“All my children are Huffaadh!”
Alhamdulillah — but pause and ask:

* Is the Qur’an truly in their hearts?
* Do they see it as *religion* or just routine?
* Was their memorization sincerely for the sake of Allah?
* Do they understand, reflect, and act upon its verses?

These are important questions for every:

➡️ Parent / Guardian
➡️ Student of the Qur’an

Allah says:
“وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ”
"And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, being sincere to Him in religion." [Qur'an 98:5]

And He also says:
“فَادْعُوهُ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ”
"So call upon Him, being sincere to Him in religion." [Qur’an 40:14]

Ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) said:
“We used to act upon the verses we had memorized before moving on to the next ones.”

✨ Memorizing the Qur’an is a noble act — but sincerity, reflection, and action are what truly give it value.

HOW DO I COMBINE MY CAREER WITH LEARNING RELIGION? I REALLY NEED TO LEARN MY RELIGION.

✅ 1. Begin with Prioritization: Focus on What’s Fard (Obligatory)

🔹 Start with the essentials of Aqeedah (belief), Fiqh (worship), and Akhlaaq (manners).

”So know that there is no deity except Allah and ask forgiveness for your sin…”
(Surah Muhammad, 47:19)

“Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim.”
(Reported by Ibn Majah – Hasan)

Ibn Taymiyyah said:

 “What is obligatory upon each individual is the knowledge required for sound belief and correct worship.”

Tip: Focus first on:

Basic Aqeedah (Tawheed, Names of Allah, Angels, etc.)
* How to pray properly
* Zakah, Fasting, Hajj
* Halal and haram in daily life

✅ 2. Establish a Daily or Weekly Routine

🕰 Even 30–40 minutes daily or 2 hours weekly consistently can change your life.

“Indeed, the prayer prevents immorality and wrongdoing.”
(Surah Al-‘Ankabūt, 29:45)

“The most beloved deeds to Allah are those done consistently, even if small.”
(Bukhari & Muslim)

Imam Al-Shafi’i said:

 “Time is like a sword; if you don’t cut it, it will cut you.”

Tip: Set a time before/after Fajr, during commute with audio, or before bed.

✅ 3. Use Authentic & Accessible Resources

“Ask the people of knowledge if you do not know.”
(Surah An-Nahl, 16:43)

Imam Malik said:

 “This knowledge is religion, so look from whom you take your religion.”

✅ 4. Learn in Layers: Step-by-Step Approach

🟢 Start with basics → move to intermediate → then detailed study.

“When the Prophet sent Mu’adh to Yemen, he said: ‘Let the first thing you call them to be Tawheed … then inform them of Salah… then Zakah…’” (Bukhari)

Suggested Stages:

Stage 1: Fard ‘Ayn – What every Muslim must know
Stage 2: Family and Work-related Fiqh (e.g., business ethics)
Stage 3: Tafsir, Hadith, Seerah, Usul al-Fiqh, etc.

✅ 5. Join Local or Online Circles of Knowledge like *DARU-L-AMNI QUR’AN AND SUNNAH INSTITUTE*

“And keep yourself patiently with those who call on their Lord morning and evening…”
(Surah Al-Kahf, 18:28)

“No people gather in a house of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it together, except that tranquility descends, mercy envelops them, and the angels surround them…”
(Muslim)

Tip: Attend weekly halaqahs (even virtually), connect with a trusted teacher or mentor.

✅ 6. Apply What You Learn
“O you who have believed, why do you say what you do not do?”
(Surah As-Saff, 61:2)

“The Qur’an is a proof either for you or against you.”
(Muslim)

Imam Al-Ghazali said:
“Knowledge without action is madness, and action without knowledge is pointless.”

✅ 7. Make Dua and Ask Allah for Guidance

“Say: My Lord, increase me in knowledge.”
(Surah Taha, 20:114)

The Prophet ﷺ used to say:
“O Allah, benefit me with what You taught me, teach me what will benefit me, and increase me in knowledge.”
(Tirmidhi)

🧭 Final Advice: Balance Between Dunya and Deen

🌍 Islam does not require abandoning your job or responsibilities. Rather, integrate your learning into your lifestyle with sincerity and consistency.

“Whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise.”
(Muslim)

HOW’S YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH ALLAH? ARE YOU WORSHIPING HIM WITH SINCERITY AND FOLLOWING THE SUNNAH?

How’s your relationship with Allah Subhānahu wata’āla? You need to know how essential it’s to worship Him with sincerity (Ikhlas) and follow the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him)strictly.

Sincerity and adherence to the Sunnah form the foundation of true worship, ensuring that actions are accepted by Allah and drawing the believer closer to Him.

Sincerity is the essence of all acts of worship. It means performing acts of devotion solely for the sake of Allah, without seeking praise or recognition from people. Allah (Subhānahu wata’āla) says in the glorious Qur’an:

"وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ حُنَفَاءَ وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَذَلِكَ دِينُ الْقَيِّمَةِ"
(سورة البينة: 98:5)

"And they were not enjoined anything except that they should serve Allah, being sincere to Him in obedience, upright, and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, and that is the right religion."

It’s also been reported from Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him) in hadith of Umar bn Khatab to have said:

"إِنَّمَا الأَعْمَالُ بِالنِّيَّاتِ، وَإِنَّمَا لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مَا نَوَى"
(صحيح البخاري: 1)

"Deeds are to be judged only by intentions, and a man will have only what he intended."

This Hadith emphasizes that the value of a deed depends on the intention behind it. Without a sincere intention, no action can be accepted by Allah.

In addition to sincerity, worship must conform to the way of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him). Following the Sunnah strictly ensures that we are worshiping Allah as He has commanded. Allah (Subhānahu wata’āla) emphasizes the importance of following the Prophet in the Qur'an chapter 3:31:

"قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ"
(سورة آل عمران: 3:31)

"Say, [O Muhammad], If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) also warned against deviating from his guidance:
"مَنْ عَمِلَ عَمَلًا لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْرُنَا فَهُوَ رَدٌّ"
(صحيح مسلم: 1718)

"Anyone who does any act of worship not in accordance with the Sunnah is rejected."

Al-Imam Fudayl ibn ‘Iyad (رحمه الله) said:

"إنَّما يُرَادُ بالعمل إذا كان خالِصًا وصَوابًا، والخالصُ ما كان لله، والصَّواب ما كان على السنة"

"Indeed, the desired action is that which is both sincere and correct: sincere means for the sake of Allah, and correct means according to the Sunnah (the teachings and practices of the Prophet)."

Al Imam Malik also said:

" من ابتدع في الإسلام بدعة يراها حسنة فقد زعم أن محمدا خان الرسالة. واستدل على ذلك بقوله تعالى: الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي...، وقال: فما لم يكن يومئذ ديناً فلن يكون اليوم ديناً."

"Whoever introduces an innovation into Islam, believing it to be good, has claimed that Muhammad betrayed the message. He used as evidence the words of Allah, 'Today I have perfected your religion for you, and completed My favor upon you...' (Qur'an 5:3), and said: 'Whatever was not part of the religion at that time will not be part of the religion today."

Combining sincerity and following the Sunnah helps believers grow spiritually and attain closeness to Allah. The more a believer purifies their intentions and adheres to the Prophet’s guidance, the closer they come to achieving Ihsan (excellence in worship), as described by the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessing be upon):

"أن تعبد الله كأنك تراه، فإن لم تكن تراه فإنه يراك"

"To worship Allah as if you see Him, for even if you do not see Him, He sees you."

It’s also very important that you get yourself closer to Allah by keeping yourself busy with Nawafil (voluntary actions) to complement the obligatory ones.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Allah, the Exalted, has said: 'I will declare war against him who treats with hostility a pious worshipper of Mine. And the most beloved thing with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawafil (voluntary prayers or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) until I love him, (so much so that) I become his hearing with which he hears, and his sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he strikes, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me something, I will surely give him, and if he seeks My Protection (refuge), I will surely protect him".

[Al-Bukhari]

To perfect your relationship with Allah, you can follow these key steps:

1. Renew Your Intention Regularly: Constantly check your heart before every act of worship. Ask yourself if you are doing it for Allah’s sake alone.
2. Learn and Follow the Sunnah: Seek knowledge about the Sunnah in acts of worship like prayer, fasting, and charity. Implement the Prophet’s way in both daily life and spiritual practices.
3. Avoid Innovations (Bid’ah): Avoid introducing new practices in worship that are not based on the Qur'an or Sunnah. Allah Subhānahu wata’āla and His Prophet (Peace and Blessing be upon him) warned against bid’ah, as it leads one away from the true path.

"اتَّبِعُوا مَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا مِنْ دُونِهِ أَوْلِيَاءَ قَلِيلًا مَا تَذَكَّرُونَ"
"Follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and do not follow other protectors besides Him. Little do you remember."
(Qur'an 7:3)

4. Make Du’a for Sincerity: Constantly ask Allah to grant you sincerity in your worship and to keep your heart pure. The Prophet (Peace and Blessing be upon him) would often say:

"يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ، ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ"
(سنن الترمذي: 2140)

This Du’a shows the importance of asking Allah to help keep our hearts sincere and firm in His path.

To perfect your relationship with Allah through sincere worship and following the Sunnah is the path to success in both this world and the Hereafter. Allah says:

"وَمَن يُطِعِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَقَدْ فَازَ فَوْزًا عَظِيمًا"
(سورة الأحزاب: 33:71)
"And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great success."

In summary, the true path to perfecting one’s relationship with Allah lies in combining sincerity with following the prophetic way, as this brings the believer closest to their Lord. By maintaining pure intentions and adhering to the Sunnah, a believer can attain the pleasure of Allah and secure a place in Jannah.
