π₯JUST IN : JAMB ANNOUNCES DATE TO RELEASE 2025 UTME RESULTS (DETAILS)
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced that results for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination will be released on Friday, May 9, 2025.
This means candidates who sat for this yearβs UTME can begin checking their scores from Friday morning.
The board disclosed the development in an official notice made available to The PUNCH in Abuja.
βThe release of 2025 UTME is scheduled to hold tomorrow Friday 9th May, 2025; Venue: JAMB National Headquarters Bwari Abuja; Time: 8am,β the statement read.
Ahead of the release, JAMB provided statistics on the performance of the 1.9 million candidates who participated in the exam. The figures show a staggering outcomeβover 1.5 million candidates scored below 200, which is considered the average benchmark.
The UTME, which is scored over a total of 400 marks, tests candidates across four core subjects. While the Use of English is mandatory for all, candidates are allowed to choose three other subjects relevant to their intended course of study.
Reacting to the performance data, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, said the results reflect the effectiveness of government efforts to curb exam malpractice.
The high failure rate in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination is clear evidence that the governmentβs anti-malpractice measures are yielding results, especially within the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board system,β he said.

π₯JUST IN : FG MANDATES WAEC, NECO TO COMMENCE CBT EXAMINATIONS (DETAILS)
The Federal Government has directed the West African Examinations Council and the National Examinations Council to adopt full Computer-Based Testing for all their examinations by 2026.
The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, disclosed this during the monitoring of the ongoing exams alongside JAMB officials, in Bwari on Monday
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that more than 2 million candidates registered for the ongoing examination in more than 800 centres across the country
Alausa revealed that both the WAEC and NECO would start administering their objective papers via CBT, effective this November.
According to him, the full adoption of CBT for the essay and objective components would commence by May or June 2026.
"If JAMB can successfully conduct CBT exams for more than 2.2 million candidates WAEC and NECO can do the same.
"We are going to get WAEC and NECO to also start their objective exam on CBT. By 2026 exams which will come up in May/June, both the objectives and the essay will be fully on CBT. That is how we can eliminate exam malpractices.
Alausa also disclosed that a committee is currently reviewing examination standards nationwide, with recommendations expectect next month.
