The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reiterated that it will not extend the registration deadline for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
JAMB announced that so far about one million candidates have already registered for the ongoing 2026 UTME. Candidates are to note that the sales of ePIN will end February 26th while registration ends February 28th, 2026, urging them to complete their registration without delay.
JAMB also expressed concern over the low turnout of candidates at some accredited CBT centres, noting that many candidates who have already purchased their ePINs are yet to finalize their registration.
According to the Board, the current examination schedule is tight, making any extension unlikely. Candidates are therefore advised to avoid last-minute rush and ensure they finish all registration processes before the deadline, as failure to do so may lead to missing the examination.
The Board warned candidates against relying on rumours of a possible extension and encouraged strict compliance with the official timeline.
It further explained that extending the registration period was practically impossible as its operational calendar was tightly aligned with those of other sister examination bodies.
Any extension would disrupt this coordinated schedule and encroach on timelines already allocated to other national examinations.
